Could you make it that there is lava blocking the entrance to the next area, and you need to beat the boss of the previous area so the lava would drain and you will be able to progress?
Data class makes things like this possible, but the way I'd approach this would giving the player a red shoe after beating the boss so that the lava path could be crossed. Anyway, there will be a separate topic about the new episode when the time is right.

What if they don't take off the shoe or carry it to the next area?

Tough luck. Them's the breaks.
Just kidding; Maybe there should be a warning of some kind.

Can't see the picture, but you might have only played the original Mario Prime. The game was revamped at some point and lots of new areas added.
I mean, you asked me to beta-test or vice versa. Was that added in a version the beta-tester just did not get?
Think the beta test was done separately for both versions. Maybe you just didn't get that far in the expansion beta because I remember you playing it as well.
In other news, I can now confirm that planning for a sequel has started and the concept is already done. The only major thing to decide now is whether to require SMBX 2.0 or allow players with 1.3 to play as well.
I remember recording the final boss of the extension. That is why I was asking about that area on the far left side of the map.

The power-ups (including the shoe) would be permanent.

That is a secret boss, you might have missed it. You can access it from Subconopolis after collecting 25 stars.

Just seems odd I have no memory of the area when I felt like I completed the beta 100%. Also, would not makeing the boot permanent be counter productive?
I have finally completed the game. The final boss was hard (I like to call the difficulty Cruelty if you know what I'm talking about), and I'm happy there (probably) will be a sequel.
This post is mainly for those who were: "D'aw, these songs are awesome, but I don't know their names :(". Well, that's what I'm here for.
Hameed the Kiwi in the desert does not count as a boss.
Oh. I was already asking myself that. I am currently at the fire bird boss in the desert. Are you supposed to enter the upper tabernacle with only ten stars? because I almost thought I had softlocked myself in that area 'till the subconpolis warp and cobra toothy saved my hide. I have 13 stars. Your episode rocks.

Sorry for the late reply. Honestly it has been such a long time since I created this episode that I can't even remember the paths you are supposed to take after collecting a certain amount of stars. I'm pretty sure Tabernacle is not the way to go at 10 stars. Youtube user chocosura has made a playthrough, so I would just look at this videos for guidance.

I am currently at the Cruelty section of the Grueling Grotto. At Shivery sleet, in the cave system, there is a key. That key can be brought to a key gate leading to the upper Tabernacle.

Great that you got forward. Now I remember the key. There isn't an exact order you have to visit the areas in, so it's true you can actually do something in the Tabernacle with only ten stars.

Yes, but you can only collect a single star. The twin Masks come much later.
I remember how I played this episode in 2016, huh! I liked the music, level design, and more... I love episodes made in the likeness of puzzles and quests. But still, the dungeon was too complicated for me, and the boss there too!
Sorry for not catching any of this clips or the like when I was beta-testing the episode. This is still a fun episode and I should probably work on routing a 23 star route and 26 star route since I have almost killed 0 Star.
