There's a shit ton of OPs in the IRC though. /ns set enforce on solves the problem shown in the logs anyway.

well i mean there are 0 ops in the chat right now, and none of them have been on in a while.

I don't believe having more people as OPs will solve that problem. Exchanging the current ones with more active, and trusted, members may however do the trick.

Yeah, Joey needs to update the chat to redirect to the correct subdomain. Currently it's redirecting to contradistinguished.kottnet.net, which has the channel w/ no ChanServ or ops. However, petroleum.kottnet.net has the w/ ChanServ and the ops. It's just a matter of updating where the webchat redirects to.

Also aslong Chanserv isn't in the chat no one has ops no one can ghost and stuff. This is also one of the biggest time members go nutshelling.

As much as DarkMatt's a dick to me and a few others, he'd make an excellent addition to the staff team, he really knows his shit and it would be pretty helpful, I would suggest people vote for him when the time comes.

It doesn't, actually. The problem with netsplits is that one server (in this case, contradistinguished) will delink itself from the other servers (petroleum), including the Services (NickServ, ChanServ) server. Therefore, anyone connected to contradistinguished will not have any access to services, so channels will have no ChanServ and users can use other peoples' nicks freely because NickServ isn't there. Not to worry, any changes anyone makes (not that they can make many changes in this state in the first place) will be deleted once contradistinguished links back.

That's not how it works - the Chat page is nothing but a frame that displays the KottNet webchat, which is hooked up to irc.kottnet.net (so it can go to either server). I have no control over that since I'm not the one that runs the webchat software on the KottNet servers.
