A friend of mine (GriffonShadow96) recolored Valtteri's SML Pipe GFX (along with the corner pieces for legend-tony980's SMB3 styled SMB1 cave tileset)

I just wanted to show it here. :D

The background's colors are really bad. I think you should change them.
Image
The yellow clouds are gray at first, and turn yellow and become hurtful every 4 seconds (Obviously the player the warned about which clouds turn yellow).

Since my last post of this level, I've added the signs, a particles off/on block not shown on either screen, and the idea by Spinda to make the normal mushroom slowly change colour as it turns poisonous. Any further suggestions?

The signs are very cartoony and don't mesh well with the grim atmosphere of the level. Maybe make them out of moldy wooden planks, rather than super polished, rounded rectangular amber.

Using planks of wood is a good idea. I'll give that a go

Gave it a go, is this better?:

I wouldn't recommend placing coins so close to the ground and under blocks like you have them. Try strings that follow the player's jump path over the pits instead and it'll look a lot better

They still fall out of style with the rest of your environment. Can be fixed easily by making some adjustments to colour and texture, though.

Due to the lack of texture and the relatively bright colour, I'd say it still needs some work; try looking at actual old signs and you'll notice that the planks are bent and cracked in a lot of places. But yeah, it is an improvement from the last version for sure.

EDIT: darn it I got Enjl'd

You should probably darken their color as well. Add shading to it to match the ghostly atmosphere.

Also, you really ought to change the ninji's facial expression. It shouldn't be smiling.

So, like, even darker and add some kind of grain to the wood? I'm not sure about too much darker, since I think adding some texture will contribute to that and I still want them to stand out a bit since they're important

Can't find any on google with that attribute.

3 Sparkies in a place like that is a bit too much... unless they're taking a while to get back onto the top platform due to how the bottom is designed... otherwise it looks alright.

They take a while to get to the top, since they go down and back up.
