Maybe I should be lucky that Windows Update is broken on both my desktop and laptop computer (fortunately, my virus protection software still keeps up to date). I have Windows 7 on both.

That is... weird. I wonder how it broke. Does it not automatically update on both anymore?
Just a hint, yes, Windows 10 can still be downloaded... (so much for English in this image):

Windows 10 can be downloaded until July 29 for free.
But: If you have already updated to Windows 10 but switched back to 7/8.1 within a month, your product key can still activate Windows 10 even after July 29, so you have Windows 10 for free forever.

And what happens if it's after July 29? Do you have to pay for it or what...

If you have already updated, you don't have to pay something.
But if you're still on Windows 7 or 8.1 and haven't ever updated, you have to pay. But an activation key for Windows isn't that expensive.
If you've updated to 10 and switched back, it's for free even after July 29. So Windows 7 users can switch in 2020, when support ends for their OS.

Let's just hope I can still use Windows 7 even if the date hits on July 29th!

Why shouldn't you? xD
Just turn Automatic Updates off until July 29, so that you're safe from an automatic Win10-Upgrade ^^

I never had a notification about Windows 10 in a very long while after I disabled it's notificier in the taskbar. I mean at least Windows Updates doesn't affect anything about upgrading from Windows 7, higher or maybe lower to Windows 10 automatically so that's a plus.

My desktop computer is getting old anyway (still the same one from 2010), so what will most likely happen is that I get a brand new computer with Windows 10 already installed, though it will also be long after July 29.

Thoughts on the Windows 10 Anniversary Update that's going to roll out Aug. 2nd?
If I had a Win7 computer, I'd probably stick to that OS, but since my laptop came preinstalled with Windows 10 I'm not going to bother switching back.

You can update on Microsoft's website if you have Windows 7 or 8.1, click -> www.microsoft.com
I updated to Windows 10 (again) because Windows 7 began to lag and having bugs...now everything's fixed, I'm contented with Windows 10

July 29 is now over in most of Europe, has the Windows 10 icon already disappeared @ Windows 7/8.1 users?

Not yet but it might be... we'll see what's going on.
