This is going to be interesting. We're getting a lot of new users joining the contest.

Now if I recall correctly, the lineup for CC8 was rather strong because of the lack of joke levels (there was only one, the Mitt Romney level) and the fact that a lot of levels were designed well, so this reduced the tiers down to 4, rather than 5 or 6. But for CC7, as there were so many new users joining, many of them from the talkhaus, and this was because around the time of CC7 there was the MaGL X contest going on as well. This severely affected the lineup to result in a lot of low-quality levels and joke levels - there was a record 12 levels in Tier 1, when there are usually around 5 or 6, many of them joke levels. Now don't get me wrong, but Frozen Rex was a relatively new member when he signed up for CC8, and his level made it into the top 10, possibly suggesting that he is a level designer prodigy or that he used to make SMW hacks, which can be backed up by the fact that Spike Sanctuary is an SMW level.

Now this has got me thinking this, and I'm not trying to bash the new users who are signing up: are the many new users signing up for the contest going to cause the lineup to be like that of CC7, or are we going to see a few people like Frozen Rex who actually beat elites like Valtteri and Chad (unless these elites submit joke levels) and make it into the higher tiers?

If there IS any joke level(s), it'll make it that much more easier for everyone else that submit a level.

Submitted my level. It'll have the best name of all levels in the contest. Also, it doesn't have a greatest lenght like my last levels for the contests. Hope the judges like it, of course.

New users don't make joke levels. They just make very bad levels, as they still don't have experience in designing.

Nope. I was referring to what shenanigans would ensue if we saw a person like Chad, for instance, submit a joke level. The newbies would beat them easily while the elites would rest in Tier 1. Remember Aisaeramonater from CC6? That was by Quill, an elite level designer, and as such, he was easily beaten by people who have far less experience at level design than him. But then we might see another Frozen Rex who gets to the top 10 yet it's their first time in a contest. Also, I know already that new users who are doing it for the first time won't do joke levels because they don't know about the concept. Joke levels are usually from seasoned veterans who have been in the community for at least a year, and is usually a form of backlash against the users who hate the designer, as most of the time, joke levels are created and submitted when the designer is hated by everyone else. (Block Bollocks, anyone?)

joke levels aint exclusive to this forums or smbx, you dont have to "know" about making intentionally bad levels. nigh-everyone who would ever show up on parts of the internet that arent hyper-popular has seen an intentionally bad work at some point in their lives. its a really simple concept. of course, i would imagine somebody who'd never done a smbx level before would probably give it an earnest try, but i have seen people make joke levels for their first smbx levels before. though they did do smw levels before that i think.

The only dramaless CC was CC2 so far. Then starting from CC3, it got continuously worse. Expect some of the biggest shitstorms ever that might even cause about five active users to quit.

You've been placing the credits .txt files next to the levels and I noticed I worded the rules poorly. Please put credit files in the graphics folder, I only want critical info regarding gameplay next to the levels themselves.

A credits .txt file is a .txt document with credits for graphics etc. I want you to put those in the graphics folder because the judges don't need that information. If you need to tell the judges something about how to play your level (tips, warnings etc.), that goes in the Readme I want you to include beside the level outside the graphics folder as shown in the screencap.

Not just Knux. Others as well, that submitted joke levels to official contests. Here's a list of people that I know were hated and submitted a joke level around that time:

Knux: Hated for the forum deletion. Submitted Block Bollocks for CC7.
Quill: Hated for the forum merge and calling people against him "fucking retarded" as well as that massive Serena avatar. Submitted Aisaeramonater for CC6.
KoolKat: Hated for the 8bit vs KoolKat flamewar and drama over on FNC's forum. Submitted a TAoK-based level for CC5.

To those who make a joke level: Why can't we just TRY to make a level and not make "joke" levels all they do is hurt you and waste time for the judges. Furthermore its a contest doesn't anyone even wanna attempt to win(even there's no prize but its the feeling of winning is the true trophy!) Joke levels should just be scraped(locked) and disqualified (but thats just my opinion)

IMO smbx is easy to use, so that's why someone is wasting a few hours for joke level.
