*snicker* No I put effort into that level. So, 54th, eh? I expected lower! Still satisfied. My responses to the complaints:Firespike33 wrote:Wait, I thought Grand Theft Yoshi was a joke level.... I thought the Yoshi was a friendly NPC.... I didn't even think of riding on him. I guess that's why my review for it was removed.

I know that now. I played it and I actually thought it was pretty good.Nimono wrote:*snicker* No I put effort into that levelFirespike33 wrote:Wait, I thought Grand Theft Yoshi was a joke level.... Aw, thanks!Firespike33 wrote: I know that now. I played it and I actually thought it was pretty good.
You're taking your ranking very well and that's awesome. I for one thought your level was really funny. I could gather you some city graphics I have lying around and maybe try to give the Koopas a police outfit if you want to continue working on your level.Nimono wrote:*snicker* No I put effort into that level. In that case my level will probably be in tier 3 since I apparently got 7.5 or so.Emral wrote:Tier 3 will house many 7/10 levels. There will be lots of them I predict. 7/10 is like the most common score for levels around here.
or low-end tier 4 as there are ~50 levels to cramp into ~7-10/10.Raster wrote:In that case my level will probably be in tier 3 since I apparently got 7.5 or so.Emral wrote:Tier 3 will house many 7/10 levels. Yeah, I'm used to not winning, and since this was my first completed SMBX level, I didn't really expect it to be a masterpiece. Glad to hear you found it funny! I find that I stay motivated to make something if work on it with humor in mind. If I can giggle at my stupid, silly ideas, I stay happy, and that keeps me motivated!Valtteri wrote: You're taking your ranking very well and that's awesome. Personally, I found the level length to be perfect for its purpose, although a chase scene would have been cool. You could extend the left boundary and put a broken bridge there, so you'd have to outrun the enemies a little more and jump across little pits in the process.Nimono wrote:-Level could've been longer
I was thinking about putting a highway chase scene at the end instead of just giving you the star, but I felt that would make the level too long. I come from the SMW hacking community, and over there, I've had a tendency to make my levels far too long, so I just left it where it was and hoped for the best...
Maybe you could replace the glass with a bunch of hammer-only bricks and turn it into a "property damage" offense. Heck, "blowing up a building" would make a pretty good 5-star crime.Nimono wrote:-Can skip stars
DARN IT I TRIED TO PREVENT THAT. I kinda realized it was possible with the glass, but I didn't want to remove all the Koopas just to stop it from happening
Well, you succeeded at doing that for me. It was a silly little mad dash where you couldn't think or plan, just hightail it out of there. I nearly did it on my first try, but of all things, one of the Rexes next to the star finished me off. =PNimono wrote:-Return trip too easy
That was sorta intentional and is why I spammed the enemies. I wanted to convey that the entire force was there to capture you, but you have hammers and a yoshi so you have a lot of power on your side, too. It was meant to cause you to laugh, not be really difficult!
I wouldn't call that lazy. Having to devote tons of layers and events to a single purpose is often not needed and pretty impressive to pull off. In fact, I like it better that the crimes must be committed in a specific order, as it gives more of a puzzle-solving feeling rather than just doing anything whenever.Nimono wrote:also i was originally going to let the player do all the crimes in any order and have each crime add one star, but then i would've needed 25 layers and events JUST for the crimes, and I REALLY didn't want to bother with that... I guess that's what I get for being lazy.
What I would suggest doing for the midpoint is putting it between a few of the locks, and have the checkpoint NPC's "death" activation trigger an event that removes the first few locks and doors.SuperWingedYoshi wrote:I admit the mid-point was rather unbalanced. I knew that already before submitting, but I couldn't find any other solution during the level making.
I don't recall there being much warning, but maybe little background object indicators (like little exclamation points) could appear above the ones that fall, a few seconds before they actually do.SuperWingedYoshi wrote:I did give a warning about the falling mushroom blocks in the Birdo boss room (or at least I think I made Birdo warn the player). And a pop-up saying "The pillars will fall in three seconds" would be rather annoying.
