I beg to differ that this is even really overrated anymore, the immense backslash the game got (On Steam very negative reviews).
If we talk 1 that could be considered overrated back then but 2 is very much disliked because of all the decision the company of the game made.

I genuinely don't get why people praise Fire Emblem Awakening this much. I feel like every single feature the game has has been done a lot better in another game in the series, and I find the on-map gameplay to be a frustrating and tedious experience that often relies more on luck (getting Dual Strikes and Dual Guards at the right time) than actual strategy. I think that Fates in particular does pretty much everything Awakening does a lot better, and that includes Birthright.

As a devoted fan of Fire Emblem The Adrestian Warcrimes, I have to disagree with her of and commit felony this is a joke

The best (read: only good) Fire Emblem game, which is Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

Yeah, agreed. Didn't find the story that engaging either. First half showed potential, but second half squandered it. Didn't find the characters all that interesting either; there's probably only a handful I like.

I don't like the gameplay either tbh, genuine bottom 5 game in the series imo - and the fact Fates comes right after it and is better in every single way doesn't help.
