We're running on phpBB3 as far as I'm concerned.

That's not the one we used to use, but that's not an issue. This one would require me to modify stuff to get it working the way the old one did, and there's no guarantee I'd be able to get it working properly so I would like something that just works out of the box.

Is there any hope left for medals to come back in this cruel world?

There was no real need for it when a lot of the issues pertaining to the site could be condensed into this topic.

R.I.P. my favourite sub-forum.
Also these forums seem to be quite inactive.

Ok lets face it. If we continue to not have a "like" feature on this site, things will get worse and worse. I think we really should be able to like posts, just like the like system on various other media and forums even. Being able to like gives people a bit better idea of how well-received something is. It also gets rid of redundand posts that are just "Thank you." in response to getting an editor question answered or something. Most importantly though, it allows for "Like if you agree"-kind of posts.

"Like if you agree" wasn't anyway the intention that the old positive reputation was supposed to be used for. Especially not "like the party you take sides with in an intense argument". And I also don't think the redundant "thank you" posts would become less if we had that.

In the ranking scale, what's the tallest? Is there a ranking guide in the forum?

It's not known until someone hits it.
