Fan Fictions are now in the Art Board and RPs have never really gone anywhere.

This is based on pure conjectures of mine, but Fan Fiction was probably removed because anything posted there were ultimately images, which could easily fit in the Art Board forum, making it rather pointless to sustain. As for the Role Playing Subforum, I have no idea, though I don't mind it myself seeing as I never posted anything in there.

There were very few images in Fan Fiction, really.

Thanks! Now I know that.

Edit: Saw the Fan Fiction and Role Playing in the Archives forum.

Can you edit the pipes for the links?
Image
It's kind of bugging me with the blank area on the bottom of the pipe

Well, that would make it kinda artificial (not that it isn't artificial already since the top is upside down and the body is too short), as that isn't how it was in the games.

Changing it would make the pipe unnatural.

Ok, now I have a serious question to ask:

When will the non-forum parts of SMBX.org ever become relevant again? I mean, everything besides the forums is outdated, like, 2014 outdated, and the wiki isn't even up anymore, so what's the point of having all these parts of the site if they aren't even relevant anymore? Also, most newcomers to the site are probably gonna check those pages anyway, only to be dissapointed with extremely outdated gfx and episodes, aswell as an empty wiki! Why did these sites get abandoned in the first place? I can see why you scrapped Featured Episodes, as you basically thought finished good episodes were as common as normal levels, but I don't see the reason to scrap these pages, as they have alot of potential! Things like gfx are really commonly posted, so I don't see the reason to scrap the gfx page! Also, on a sidenote, we can just reinvent Featured Episodes so they feature levels instead of episodes! These pages just have alot of missed potential, and I think we need to bring them back!

Also, the description for the Episodes forum still hints towards Featured Episodes, so I would recommend changing that!

Wiki was scrapped because it wasn't getting activity and a bot flooded it. It's going to be brought back though.

The problem with keeping those pages up to date though is it's basically on Joey to keep that up to date so if he falls behind, then the pages fall behind. That's the problem with letting few people keep up with an entire community.

I stopped doing featured stuff because I didn't want to update the stuff anymore. Finished episodes are not nearly as common as levels.

I understand the concern with the pages being a little outdated (all the episodes and graphics there are still good, though). The episodes page will at some point have the Level Designer episodes (The Great Castle Adventure, Return to Yoshi's Island, etc.) and the graphics page will have the CGFX pack. I also would eventually want to have the graphics section be an MFGG-like system of organizing graphics, but that won't happen for a while if it happens at all. It never seemed like there was a whole lot of interest in the wiki, and I had closed it temporarily because of the issues with flooding.

In short, not sure what will end up happening with those pages yet.

Maybe the "World" tab could redirect directly to a list of most popular episodes that staff decides, without explicitely calling these "featured" and giving new episodes a chance from time to time. E.g. looking through the most viewed episode, Airship Attack and Mix World 2 should be on that list.

A wiki can be further use to let people get to known to the game and the forums, but only if it's maintained well. I'd be willing to contribute.

How would that be any different than before?

The very first difference is getting newer episodes in :> (and not calling them "officially featured", just "recommended"; we could also hint at interesting ongoing projects)

Airship Attack is already featured though, just not added. Also why should the staff be the one to decide that? I doubt most of them have the time to play through a whole Episode, and some members might cause an uproar because they don't get a chance to choose.

Also most views, doesn't mean the episode is something to be featured.

Does it really matter if the episodes are featured or not? People will eventually search for good episodes in its own forum, and if they don't, users have the free will to create a thread on their own and keep track of good episodes, just like I did with my GFX Index. If no one else nominates for that job, then just scratch the episode feature completely and let the staff promote their own episodes, like Tower of Biased and other stuff.
Tinkerbell wrote:Also most views, doesn't mean the episode is something to be featured.
True. If anything, what determines if an episode should be featured should be both quantity of posts and overall reaction of the userbase to said episode. Which let's be honest, no one has the time or gives a f*** to do that.

I'm not saying that "being viewed a lot" would directly imply "being on the Episodes tab", but being viewed a lot is still a good coincidence for a quality episode (since it means being popular). Also Airship Attack is nowhere on the list, I checked.
