I haven't given it any thought, and to be honest I forgot about it until today. Too busy moping about HMs in Gen 6 and the framerate and resolution in the footage of Legends Arceus. It looks (graphically) quite good (better than SwSh!) and I might look into it, but I've lost hope in Pokemon since SwSh. Recently, I've only really considered the PMD remake if anything, and even then that's probably just because I've played too much NetHack recently.
Fanmade mmo mystery dungeon if you didn't see the trailer on youtube. It's been around for a long time now but somehow only now is it getting known about.
Pro:
- Multiplayer PMU!
- Very loyal to original versions

Pro:

Cons:
- Common Lag
- Not Nintendo Official
I looked into it and it looks okay, but it's incompatible with Linux and didn't install under Wine. I'll probably download it once I actually bother to reinstall Windows. Unofficial doesn't bother me (because why else would I be playing a freeware Mario fangame) and since they aren't big anyway the lag makes sense. Multiplayer in a turn-based rouge-like doesn't make sense to me, but it sounds quite cool and suits the whole "teamwork" theme they've got going on.
Only question though, are the dungeons still randomized each playthrough? That's probably the biggest draw of roguelikes.

Yes, they are randomized. Maps, Pokémon, Items, Monster Houses, etc.
When I said "Not Nintendo Official" as a con, it means it has a possibility to the game be cancelled like, for example, the famous Pokémon Brick Bronze.

Probably for the same reason as Brick Bronze: they're making a bit of money off of it via donations to keep the server running (unlike PBB, which was fully commercial and made a profit via DevEx). Mind, CTGPR (Mario Kart mod with way too many maps) mines server fee donations too and still keeps going, so maybe they're more lenient about that.
Well to be honest, you've got to consider that this is Game Freak we're talking about. They've already had a bit of a history of noticeable lag in their games, with some recent offenders being SwSh, LGPE and USUM. At this point they should know the system specs and work around them, not try to push them. In the case of USUM, it's pretty much blatant incompetence, because Smash ran really smoothly when there was more stuff going on on the screen, and ultimately suggests they don't optimise their games.
Also while you could say that the game footage is not final, they've done this a lot and the final product ends up looking noticeably similar, or if not the exact same, as the beta. We saw this with SwSh; the bad tree textures and pop-in were still a thing.
Truly I don't think it comes from anything else beyond a serious lack of time and resources to make fleshed out games. The games have been getting progressively less and less polished as times goes on. This studio has been making Pokemon games for nearly two and a half decades and these issues have not cropped up until the start of the 7th gen and they've only had 2020 as a "break."
A couple lukewarm, disappointing releases on a new platform amongst a line of relatively well-received games does not spell incompetence or "laziness" to me and suggesting otherwise just insults the workers who have put the most effort into the games thus far. Some level of stubbornness from the bosses might be a factor as well but overall I think yearly releases from a single studio that is massively understaffed for such a colossal and expensive series which continuously demands 'innovation' in each release... A breaking point was going to get hit at some point as the consoles got bigger and bigger. At some point they were going to have to stop including every single pokemon in a single video game too.
How SWSH looks and how many pokemon in the basegame is a non-issue to me in comparison to how it plays. Just playing the game it really feels like there was a sudden point where either they suffered some catastrophe on the inside and/or they were suddenly told their development time was not as long as they needed. The Pokemon Company did not give them the time or resources to make this as big or polished as they wanted.
League of Legendaries Pokemon Unite is getting a mobile release; those who preregister get a Pikachu skin. It is also adding Mammoswine and Sylveon. I don't play this game, and may be missing some important details.
Pokemon Cafe Mix is getting renamed to Pokemon Cafe Remix, adding new game mechanics. That's all I can work out because I don't play it and therefore don't get most of the jargon. Looks like new skins, and Cyndaquil.
Pokemon Masters EX (why did they have to put the "EX" on the end?) is celebrating its two year aniversary. Adding a new story arc staring the evil teams is being added. Also, more is junk being added for you to pull from the lootboxes. Speaking of lootboxes, you seem to be getting 100 free sync pairs. Also, N has a new outfit and can hit everyone? Once again, I don't play this game.
Pokemon Go is celebrating its five year aniversary, adding Gen 8. Before Gen 7. Something to do with Hoopa. Zacian and Zamazenta will be appearing in raids, while Wooloo, Skwovet and Failinks will appear in the wild. Also, Hoopa left a ring in the sky.
NOTE: This is written expecting that you know about the features that were in the DS original.
The Sinnoh Underground is now called the Grand Underground. You can now find Pokemon Hideaways, which have walking wild Pokemon in them. The Pokemon will change depending on what statues you place in your Secret Base. It also appears to be their answer to Diamond and Pearl's awful type balance.
Ball Capsules are now 3D?
Character customization has been added. Sort of.
Contests appear to just be dancing, with Contest Moves now being triggered when X is pressed.
The Union Room is here for no good reason and now has Wifi support. PVP is present, but Ranked Battles are exclusive to Sword and Shield.
Walking Pokemon! Every Pokemon can be used everywhere. I am unsure about what this means for Amity Square; they probably went out of buisness after some guy sued them over the fact they wouldn't let him have his Gyarados and Steelix.
A special edition Switch Lite will release alongside the game, features Palkia and Dialga. Probably doesn't include a game. Modeled after the Special DS Lite - Palia and Dialga edition from 2006.
Set in the Hisui region, which is what Sinnoh was called in the past when people didn't enslave Pokemon to make them fight for pocket change. Game objective is to complete the first ever Hisui Dex. The professor is Professor Laventon.
Jubilife Village (it's not a city yet) is the hometown.
You join the Galaxy Expedition Team. Sounds awfully familiar.
The framerate no longer chugs. Still could do with some anitialiasing though. Damn you Nintendo and your potato hardware.
Arceus is a jerk, implied to shoot thunderbolts at trees to turn the Pokemon evil.
Camps are included, you can either craft or buy items. They also seem to heal you.
Pokemon actively try to kill you. Hide in the grass unless you want to die. Not all Pokemon want to kill you, such as Bidoof being curious and Starly doing a runner.
There are quests that require you catch specific Pokemon.
You can throw Pokeballs on the overworld, once again you should hide in the grass. Drop a caught Pokemon near an wild one to engage a battle.
The battle system has been overhauled, you can act multiple times during a turn based off of your moves and Speed stat. There are also "move styles", being the Strong Style and Agile Style. Strong Style makes your move stronger but it lowers your action speed. Agile style makes the move weaker but allows you to move faster.
The Pokedex is more in-depth, including specific research tasks for that Pokemon.
New evolutions: (note that the types are from Bulbapedia)
Stantler evolves into Wyrdeer, a Normal/Psychic type who is adapted to Hissuian environments. It has been treated with care and respect by the people of Hisui.
Basculin evolves into Basculegion, a Water/Ghost type whcih is posessed by the souls of dead Basculin, thus basically making it a legion of Basculin. Thanks to these souls,it can swim on and on without tiring. You can surf on it.
Hisuian forms:
Hisuian Braviary is a Psychic/Flying type Pokemon who comes to Hisui in the winter (so how does that make it Hisuian?). It can imbue its screeches with psycic power to generate shockwaves. You can fly on it.
Hisuian Growlithe is a Fire/Rock type that is very wary and protects its territory. Its soft fur is a good insulator, allowing it to stay active and lively even in chilly weather. The wool on its head is made of rock, and breaks easily.
Also, both Legends Arceus and BDSP will be compatible with Pokemon Home.
With the inclusion of Wyrdeer and Basculegion, we have officially reached a total of 900 Pokemon. Anyways, I love what I'm seeing in Legends: Arceus. The Pokemon trying to kill you and the battle system look cool. Nothing too surprising with BDSP besides the improved graphics. I must say, this direct caught me by surprised. I haven't felt this intrigued over a Pokemon game in years.
For those curious, I currently own Pokemon Ultra Sun, Pokemon Sword, and Pokemon Crystal (Virtual Console). I have ShockSlayer Crystal Clear (Romhack) as well to keep me entertained in case I have nothing to do.
Out of these three games, I've already beaten Sword (including its little postgame) with the exception of the DLC since I did not get the Pass at all.
