So, first off, I wanna thank Marina for having led this project for so long. However, he doesn't really have the time to do that now, so he won't be doing as much for it now. As such, this project will now be mostly updated by me (seeing as Blue is kind of... banned).

Introducing... World 9!

Well, kinda.

Because you can only access 9-1.

There's no way to access the other levels. We removed it because we weren't up to the responsibility. Sorry, folks. You can still visit World 9, but you won't be able to access the levels.

World 9's map. That Castle is inaccessible, too. We only put it there to rub the fact that you can't get there into your face.
As for other progress, I think we're doing pretty well atm. We've gotten quite a bit of stuff done, so I hope you look forward to the finished Episode!

Don't worry, SMB1X also features the spookiness you'd expect from an AAA game. I mean, aren't you just completely spooked out by that gray pillar in contrast to the blue tileset and the floating black tile?
With that being said, I apologize that we weren't able to finish World 9. But who knows, sometimes you don't need much to have fun, and sometimes you have even more fun this way. How about some more screenshots instead?

Thank you for being honest, but I don't have a good feeling about cutting levels out. Once I started cutting out features in Yoshi's Island X, I started to realize that the project was on its death knell. I commend you for not biting off more than you can chew, but sometimes the paring down is symptomatic of not liking the game as a whole.

these new screens looks good, especially the airship ones and i like the GFX! although there are some cutoffs in the 9-1 world screen.

Regarding everyone's World 9 concerns: ; )

Regarding Harvey36Dice's comment: I'll see what I can do, but personally, I really like Marina's idea of putting that grass on a castle.
If I remove it from 9-1, I might use it somewhere else ; )

Btw, this project is having its 1 year anniversary on 11/15, so expect something there ; )

Jokes aside, those screenies are really cool, I see flawless NPC placement and good tileset mixing.

What's that? It seems like there's some... interesting stuff that's been cut coming back from the grave!

In each world, there is an entrance to the infamous Minus World. Some are easy to find, but some are a bit more tricky.

The... map for this world.
At the end of each level in this world, you'll find a Minus Star:

What do they do? Nobody knows. But many say that they're the key to "special worlds", at least before they went through the limbo of getting cut.

Some of those levels look... weird. Thanks to Darkonius Mavakar for this masterpiece.
That brings the total number of levels in Super Mario Bros. 1X up to 45, compared to the 32 levels found in Super Mario Bros.! We hope you're looking forward to experiencing each and every one of them.
