You don't have to be able to beat level 9 CPUs to be good, but it's good reflex skills because of how often they spam perfect shields. It gets annoying, and most of the time you'll want to go in for a grab on them. Their recovery movements are very predictable, though.

My strategy to defeat Lv9 CPUs is to use an agile character (usually Lucina) and dodge all/most of their moves, attacking whenever the opponent is vulnerable, then go for the kill during the Sudden Death round. It worked 18/20 times so far.

PK Freeze is one of Ness' alternate specials. It functions identically to Lucas' version of the move. You can unlock it and others by playing certain modes such as Classic (Both versions), Smash Run (3DS), and Smash Tour (Wii U).
