So what, we're going to have to have a 16-bit Shrek in-game?

The only Shrek sprites I found that were 16-bit ish were big. There is also one based on the movie and 2 8-bit ones. But one of the 8-bit ones is from a fighting game and the other is in the exact same pose as Mario when he stands in Super Mario Bros.

Okay, well would it be possible to just shrink the 16-bit Shrek sprite?

So, are the worlds supposed to be themed or is the theme of the levels in each world going to be totally random?

Also, would it be all right if I used one of my contest levels for this project?

Some will, some won't. Some worlds might not be themed and might have multiple types of levels, specifically in the final world.

Sorry i'm late! Today was my dads birthday, not exactly something i can skip...(Not that i would want to) also MY birthday is Tomorrow, so don't expect too much activity THEN either... :|

Ok here is the essential graphics:http://www.mediafire.com/download/co946 ... ntials.rar

REMEMBER: The stuff in the MAIN folder is going to be in the game folder, if you want to use the Computer sign(and anything else that future updates you have to put it in your level folder...

And now for IMPORTANT Details:
We have a fine variety of levels you can make, BUT! there is only one of every non-normal type of level for each world, so you will need to reserve your spot BEFORE you make the level.

Normal: Anything you like! the only requirement is that it ends in a SMB3 Zig-Zag Background exit.
Secret exit locked:Same as normal, but has a Key Exit that leads to a "Locked topic"
Secret exit to warp zone:Same as normal, but has a pipe marked "To warp Zone" that opens a warp back to the resistance base on the map
Locked Topic: A topic the seems to defy normal Rules of Physics* and ends in a star
Forum house:The midsection level for a world, theme varies on the world, ends in a mini-boss, and Boom-Boom Ball
Forum Castle:The final level for a world, theme varies on the world, ends in a boss, and Star
*There STILL has to be easy to recognize patterns in the level that clues you in on the way things work there, Eg: Floating Swim zones need to have a background object to indicate you can swim there but it doesn't HAVE to be water, or if water replaces lava, make sure early on a green koopa walks right into it before Mario can.

But there is a process and Rules for Submitting levels, Make sure you Don't Get Refused!

1.Every level will be tested by every judge before its approved. 3 of 5 positive feedback is required to be given to a level before it makes it in the game. This includes levels submitted by judges. This is to ensure that the game is quality, and not like tower of the biased. ;)
2.Make sure your level makes sense Difficulty wise! Locked topics will be harder than other levels in the world, but not as hard as castles. other than that the difficulty will increase naturally from world to world.
3. As the need for more rules increases, we will add to them.

Now for Replys!:
castlewars wrote:Great to see that you're alright. Did you get the PM that has the link to AirShip's LiG cover in SMW style? It'll be great against the boss in my castle.
Yes I did,but now i think it would be better for the castle itself, i do have a good singer who can apply lyrics to an instrumental(For the Boss fight) and will be ok with us using it.
mariogeek2 wrote:Great to see you're back!

Also, I had an idea. What about if we had in some levels enemies with messed up graphics that were supposedly "corrupted" with viruses such as goombas. It would look like they were having an electric current running through it and would have jumphurt set to 1.
Hmmmm.. that sounds good for the "Locked topics" levels... Can we have some Gfx Designers get on that?

Not sure about the contest levels, i don't want to rip off TOB without Permission, and I think by submitting a level for that you enter some exclusivity agreement.

And, as I said above, the only "Theme" for each world is the difficulty of the levels inside.

Epoch and HR:
Well they both look awesome. :D

So, wait, does that mean that a judge can give positive feedback for his/her own level, meaning it would really only need 2 of 4 positive feedback, or would the judge not be able to comment on his/her own level, meaning it would actually require 3 of 4 positive feedback?

Like I said, Whatever you want! you only need to ask permission for the LIMITED level types!

Ummm, Idk, to be honest I stole this system from a Successful community project and I'm not sure what they did for Judge levels...

The graphics for me are in my pack. Please use them instead of Samus.

Edit: I call dibs on a Zelda-themed level!

Hey, can you make a normal level (But with the theme of a castle?)

Btw, I don't think we can do "Houses" and castle levels yet, mainly because we don't have the sprites for the bosses.

By submitting a contest level, you agree that it will have to be in the Tower of Biased episode for that contest. You can use it for your project, but in order to enter it into the contest, you can't have shown screenshots or released the level to the public before.

Well, you could do what they do for Community Contests. When a level is submitted by a level judge, they have a backup judge judge the level in place of that level judge.

Yeah. What's stopping us? Castles don't need bosses. The final level in a world usually is a castle; but after looking at the 2[sup]nd[/sup] secret level in Yoshi's Island, I learned that you don't need a boss.

That is fine, as long as we don't have TOO many Castle Levels, The best feature of a community project like this is variety.

Then go for it, since it already ends in a star we can make it one of the locked topic levels.
As for the judge idea I like it, I'll add that to the rules with one exception... ;)

Any volunteers for backup judge?

Depends on how many levels a backup judge would have to judge and about when the judging period begins.

You know, I could abuse that...wait, no! I must...maintain...self...control...
I'd like to make one of the "Locked Topic" levels, please, or maybe one of the post-game levels, depending on how difficult it ends up becoming (I'll do my best to make sure it isn't Sharp-Objects-Are-Usually-Deadly-difficult).
