Where is there actually such a rule?

It's obvious though that this is quite bland, with the only custom graphic being the purple water.
lack of custom graphics doesn't directly correlate to blandness

I like to ask if it would be okay, if I use my graphical style (like my project has), or if that would go into the category of "going overboard". ^^
If not, then I surely could submit some screenshots for this.

Right in the main post with all of the other rules:
Joey wrote:- For every category except for sky, your screenshot must vertically start or end with blocks or BGOs (think of it as a floor and a roof - see the following screenshot for an example). Sky levels should have an open top.

This looks pretty boring tbh. There's nothing going on on the right side of the screen besides 2 Goombas. Put some stuff in the air.

The rules don't state what version-type of SMBX you have to use, does that mean I can use 38-A/the Chinese build? (No racist statement intended)

... so no.

You could use 38A. But don't use the elements that are present in 38A but are not present in the legacy editor or current SMBX 2.0 beta.

Had a thought: is there any connection between the projects forum rules with specific screenshot requirements and the screenshot requirements for this contest?

Nope. Also, I'm probably just gonna leave submissions running for the time being since this new part of the website may not arrive for a little while.

When I reviewed the first post, I saw this. So is it possible that no one wins?

That's literally what the post you quoted says

Yeah, which was why he was asking in the first place, It is kinda weird to host a contest and then not pick a winner.

The only instance where zero winners would've happened is if nobody submitted anything that's worth using, but I can say with certainty now that that's not the case.

Even though the new section of the site won't arrive anywhere in the next week but if you are allready certain about certain screenshots winning why won't you release these results yet, this would make it easier for us to make levels with high chance of getting approved (like, if the confirmed winners are vanilla-ish and basic we know we shouldn't make graphic clusterfu ks)

Everyone's submissions will be noted and, once we decide to review them fully, you'll get a PM by a certain date saying if your screenshot was selected or needs revisions. If a level is too bland or a little too crowded, we'll just send it back for you to fix. The only way your submission will not be accepted is if it's really out of the lines of what we're looking for. We want to accept as many as possible because the more variety we have for this, the better.

Quantix, that screenshot doesn't quite fit into any of the categories. It definitely can be repurposed to fit, though.

No deadline has been given and the images are just over one screen long so you could get a couple done.

I have been busy with a contest, so I never got a chance to try this...

It only takes an hour to make one.
