Not really. You need to make the darker red much darker than what it currently is. That is, raise the contrast. You should also make some ground tiles bereft of those bone patterns.

Other than the mouth, it looks good. I'd prefer if Peach has no mouth, it just looks bad.

@Dragonmaster146: You still did not tone down Fire/Ice's custom contrast, I'd suggest you to actually do it.
Also, more CoISMM stuff comming!! Revamping the Enchanted Forest tileset for the moment. What do you guys think?

Nice tileset you have there. One suggestion though, try toning up the entire tileset's contrast, it looks somewhat misty and wouldn't fit for the actual SMB3 Waterfall background if you wouldn't recolor it as well.

Really nice tileset StrikeForcer. Also, I suppose that grey thing is supposed to be a stone fence, am I right?
By the way, I'd suggest you to don't use the ice block's palette for your tileset, it just doesn't look really well.

So I decided to scrap my other tileset, "Scorching Subterrane", and try restarting it, and try to make it better. Here is what I came up with:
Compared to this:
Is it better than my previous attempt? Anything that should be added/changed/removed? Suggestions?

It may be just my imagination, but is your tileset supposed to, or at least you tried to make it SMB2 styled?
Either way, it definitely looks better, and has a way better design than before. Although, I'd suggest to tone up the contrast a little bit on the fill (ignoring the bones, stones and the skull of course, their shading is perfect). Other than that you're doing a really impressive job. Keep up the good work, looking forward for more stuff from you.

Well most SMB2 tilesets have outlines that are not the usual black (SMB3, SMW). But this is mostly custom with no style in mind. It might fit best in an SMB2 level or maybe an SMB3 level, depends how you see it.
I can tell it looks better myself, too. I actually have done research on how others make their tilesets and decided to make my own concept for it. I'm still not fully aware of what contrast is but I will do that to see if it is indeed better that way.
Also thank you, again. I hope people will be using this once I (officially) release it.

Contrast, in the simplest way is the variation between colors. If someone says the contrast is too low, that means the difference between one color and another are almost null, and so you should try to use a more different color. There's a feature on Paint.NET that allows you to tone up and down the contrast. Go to Adjustments/Brightness & Contrast. If you click on there, a new window should appear saying how much would you like to alter the contrast and the brightness. Tone up a little bit the contrast and you shall see what it is. Again, my definition is really simple, but don't think that's all you need to know. Contrast alteration often makes some changes making it look almost completely different, so you should make sure to alter the contrast of your graphics minimally, unless you're 100% sure it needs to be toned up/down a lot.
As you tone up/down the contrast, you may find quite useful the brightness alteration as well. Altering the contrast may make the image too bright or excessively lack of detail. That's when the brightness alteration jumps in, try to alter both as you deem necessary.

I don't have paint.net anymore since I have a Mac, but I'll see what I can do with what app I'm using.

Very well, if that's the case check the following image and you shall comprehend what contrast is.

So basically make the shading less blending in the earth part of the tileset?
