I wasn't doubting the reliability of Strawpoll, I am aware of how useful and reliable it is, and I do know what polls are for in the first place, but my question was what your obsession was with them in the first place. I see you posting polls whenever some discussion comes up, and most of the time I'm not certain it's a necessity as much as it is a contest to see who gets the most votes.
Also, this didn't even answer my other question:
Kyo Saito wrote:You do know how easy it is to rig a poll, right?
It's hard to question the legitimacy of your polls when the threads they're posted in generally have the same number of active users (around the 10-20 mark), but the amount of votes you get on your polls ranked up to the 50's and 60's. Again, you do know how easy it is to rig a poll, correct?
It's also hard to question the legitimacy of your polls when this has been an option on almost every poll you've linked around here.

I've only linked one poll made by myself like this, and what makes them legitimate is that Strawpoll checks for duplications, IPs, and other stuff like that to keep them accurate. Also since Strawpoll links aren't bounded to any one thread and can be put in signatures, more people can have access to it and vote their opinion than limiting it to the people that care of enough to post in the threads. It's absolutely necessary for when people start saying "it's just you and a few others that feel this way," since it objectively disproves that and prevents appealing to popularity when there is none to be appealed to in the first place.

Yes, I am aware of that, but I do hope that you're aware that people can still manipulate and use proxies to vote multiple times in the same poll, correct?

I'm not saying they are bound to threads, but given the number of people that actually talk about a given topic, and the number of people that actually care about the subject, you still have an amount of people less than 50.
Also, I'm not certain that any random user is going to click on a link in a signature to a poll so they can vote on trivial matters, but if you want to believe that's what happens, go ahead.

Polls aren't even necessary in the first place. You should be able to communicate like normal human beings without needing a poll to prove your points and make yourself look "right".
Also, I want to ask, since I don't really digress in the "forum politics", can I have some examples of people saying things along the lines of "it's just you and a few others that feel this way" in any given context?

As for the rest of your post I just think we'll have to agree to disagree.

In that scenario, it's still a matter of whether or not people actually speak up about problems, instead of being lazy and casting their vote into a throw-away poll. I can see where Valtteri is coming from, because there have been a select few users that have been incessantly looking for change, and nobody else seems to mind it because nobody speaks up on the issue. Establishing a poll isn't going to solve anything. Just because you get numbers doesn't mean you're going to receive the change you so desire, and it's also, again, extremely easy to rig a poll.
Also, I feel that the example you gave me is rather moot, since that is the reason why the poll was created in the first place, but since I did ask for an example in any given context, I guess I'll take what I get. I would still appreciate other examples, however. Ones that maybe
have been solved with a poll?
AeroMatter wrote:As for the rest of your post I just think we'll have to agree to disagree.
That's fair enough.

Isn't it a tiny bit obstructive to say that Knux can't post his own comic here but others can?

Well, Knux is a banned user here, and other folks aren't supposed to post his comics here, they're just supposed to post TAOK episodes made by themselves. TAOK has had non-Knux authors since time immemorial so it's not like anyone's betraying him or something by posting their own comics.

Would it matter either way?
I mean I don't know him from a bar of soap.

So is #backtobasics banned?

New levels are still allowed as far as I'm concerned (since they're just levels) and you can say whatever you want about it in your signature. The thread is going to be closed indefinitely, however.

The legacy of John Nintendo will never die, brother FanofSMBX.

But marioposting is still restricted to that thread, right?
