Well, I only saw it from YouTube.
I haven't heard of it anywhere else prior to that.

No offense, my friend, but you must've been living under a rock during these days of the early internet during 2000-2005....
Staying on topic though, I decided to go work on my grayscale Gameboy style custom Mario sprites.

I was like 3-8 around that time, cut me some slack.
On topic: Liking the Gameboy style Mario sprites. It looks like a mix of SMB3 and SML2.

Hey all! I'm new here, but I have been working a little while on a Paper Mario-based costume for Princess Peach for SMBX2. It is based on her SMB3 costume (Credit: SMBX2 Team), Paper Peach in
Super Paper Mario and
Paper Mario: Color Splash (Credit: Nintendo), and a little on "Modern Peach" by Art. Since I am a very busy college student and I am a newbie in designing graphics, would anyone like to join my project? If you are, then please PM me. Here is what I have so far. Enjoy!

I'm impressed! Though, you might need some lessons on doing 16-bit sprite shading, overall, I approve of this!

This is pretty good for one of your first pixel art drawings. However, you should probably avoid using smaller pixels; they should all be the same size.

Well, I
wooden't expect anything different from you.
Jokes aside, I like the way the colors look for the wood (oddly enough), but I'm a little curious on those pinkish circular ground tiles above the trees in the second picture (along with the yellowish circular tiles to the right of said pinkish circular ground tiles). Alternative ground tiles, perhaps?

Yes, they're alternative ground tiles btw.

wood looks decent, but the top and bottom areas are really banded. I recommend fixing that

Those aren't my graphics but I might as well ask anyway, how would you avoid banding in situations like that? (Referring to the very top and bottom of the normal wood tiles in FPM's sheet.)
