Hmm, which ones?
They're quite obscure, I'm not sure if you'll know what I'm talking about.
One of them was called berezaaforums or something like that, it was about a game using the ROBLOX game creating engine. Don't worry, I was quite young back then. The site now has actually been taken down completely because the amount of IP hacking they kept getting. But anyways, I was actually threatened with a ban once for bumping a topic... Quite a minefield their rules were...
All video game forums frown bumping.

Yes but I was straight up threatened with a ban!

I just find it strange that Reddit, the biggest(?) forum out there, has no bump or double post rule, yet SMBX, a forum with much less of a community size, does have them.
Realistically it should be the other way around if it was to stop chaos and trafficking.

Wait hold on, it's been a while but from my memory when you post on a Reddit post, I don't think the post actually gets updated/bumped to the front.
UPDATE: The only 'true' way of bumping a post is by up-voting it to the front page. But the chances of a large group of people travelling PAGES AND PAGES back to up-vote a topic is extremely rare.

Guess that makes sense. If this forum worked in that way, guess it would void the bump rule.
And the double post rule is probably just to stop people from gaining a post count for free.

I think the most liked and popular comments are on top.

Ok, thanks for the answers. Quite an odd one really, but it makes sense if you think about it.
P.S. I wasn't expecting to get to two pages in such a short time frame, lol. This can be locked now if needs be, so thanks guys.
P.P.S. My project page will be up soon, just for clarification.

What a lovely late night conversation.
Good night now, it's pretty late here in Australia.

Yeah this should probably be locked before anyone gets in trouble for bumping or double posting, lol.
I'd lock it myself, but for some reason you can't lock your own topic unless you're a mod / admin.

Double-posting is not only frowned upon bc postcount but also bc it looks bad (yes, you can consider it spam) and it's especially pointless if it happens within a few minutes and if the edit button would already do your job. And plenty of people are blind for the edit button.
And what is quite just a big problem is people making fun of the rules and derailing threads like it happened here.

I know this might sound kinda farfetched and is probably not gonna happen, but has there been any talk about upgrading the forum software to, say, MyBB, kinda like how MFGG did it? I belive that'd allow for some more features, such as better anti-spam controls and *gasp* maybe even medals?

But if you use the edit button on a post in a topic that is a few days old, isn't it unlikely for anyone to see your new edit?
Are you allowed to double post if there has been a certain time from your last post, or must you always use the edit button?

You can double post if you need to make a new announcement after a certain timeframe which is at least a day. And according to staff it's also allowed to doublepost in your project or art topic to announce new stuff if you don't create overly long multiposting chains.

OK, then how long would the maximum time frame be before your post is classed as a bump (and would be against the rules)?
Re: Why?

that's quite a grey area, just the same as the timeframe between double-posts. A month is a good estimate. And just like above, not all bumps are prohibited. The rules explicitely say that if you have a very good reason for a bump, you can do it.

So lets make a situation:
I create a project page. I regularly update said page. I decide to double post with a screenshot / information about a new level. Is this acceptable?
