Don't ask me why I did this. This is just a compare from old to new.

TGCA and RTYI seem quite impressive to me if you consider when they were made. Nowadays, almost everyone who has been here for a few months here could do a better episode, but that's like comparing a good computer of our time to an old one that failed to save a file that was bigger than 20kb. TGCA satisfied the standards from back then, I think this one will satisfy the standards from now.Raster wrote:TGCA was a weak episode, so my expectations are pretty low, but the level designers team seems to be a lot more competent this time. He featured it on his website. He just didn't want to include it to the SMBX download as it was already big.FanofSMBX wrote:Even though I liked RTYI, you have to consider that Redigit, who had been considering as a pack in episode (I think he commissioned it?), actually dropped that plan since he didn't like it.
True this is also what lacks pretty much on the whole forum and their users. Today you don't find any episodes without slopes because if you don't use them people bitch at you when episodes before slopes got added where all made without them and were good. Also Nintendo's first mario games didn't had slopes aswell did anyone bitch about it? No.Nien wrote:to be fair i'm pretty sure TGCA was made before fucking slopes were madeRaster wrote:TGCA was a weak episode, so my expectations are pretty low, but the level designers team seems to be a lot more competent this time. I agree. The episodes was really weak, but they were pretty fun though and really popular.Raster wrote:TGCA was a weak episode, so my expectations are pretty low, but the level designers team seems to be a lot more competent this time. TGCA has not aged well, true, but keep in mind that it was created before slopes, before custom npcs, even before custom graphics altogether. So Zephyr and I were really limited with what we could do. I remember we tried to custom make signs for the castle with Boom Boom's ? sphere and a background for the pole, and that's when Redigit decided to put the SMW sign into the game. (A little trivia for you.) But it's okay if you have low expectations, because then I'm pretty confident you'll be pleasantly surprised by the quality of this one. Bringing in Chad and Valtteri this time has also helped.Raster wrote:TGCA was a weak episode, so my expectations are pretty low, but the level designers team seems to be a lot more competent this time. Finally!!krazykoopa wrote:UPDATE: All levels for the New Great Castle Adventure are now complete. I need to work on a couple things to get the episode all put together and ready for bug testing, but that won't take long. Beta testers will hear from me soon.
I'm still shooting for the end of this month for an official release, but I don't wan't to rush the beta testing phase either. We'll see how it goes, everyone!
You're really kidding me? Krazykoopazlakerboy357 wrote:It's finally good to hear that all levels has been done, but who made the last level?
It's an official episode.FanofSMBX wrote:Why is this topic stickied anyway?
It was the Hideout Helm theme from DK64. I really love that theme, but this time around I went with different variations of the Bowser's castle theme from Paper Mario. It fits really well and I hope you look forward to it!Knux wrote:Will the main castle theme be the same one from TGCA? It was a DK song iirc?
