-So you might've seen I had a poll running for this thread asking the community to pick the 2 worst judges out of the 5 that was there. (It's gone now, having served its purpose.)

Well I do not need to tell you that Emral was obviously picked. In fact, Emral has been in exile ever since he threw up his shitfest of reviews. Good work team.

The second one, however, is interesting. TNTTimelord is booted out, leaving us with Quill, Chad, and Bossedit8. I am honestly surprised you didn't oust Bossedit8 but you know I haven't seen TNTimelord's reviews, so, I'll just take your word for it. Maybe I should've had you guys explain why you voted the way you did. Naaaaah.

And now with the dead weight removed, we shall show you an alternate retelling of Level Contest 8, one that's 50% more fair. (Course, 150% of 0 is)

DISCLAIMER: You are the guys who chose this, and you must now live with your terrible mistakes. Scores are rounded to the nearest hundredth because fuck you bossedit8, and Valtteri isn't included unless he's replacing one of the judges you kept. This is WITH Valt's changes to the standings, so deal with it. Levels are sorted by their NEW place, not their old. Ties are broken by old rank.

I would like to thank Valtteri specifically for giving me the contest levels so that I could make this thread. Also for being the one person who gave me really good criticism for my entry.

I'd also like to thank the smart people who posted in this thread. Thanks for keeping it alive while I was away.

I understand where that's coming from. However, this level doesn't really try to be hard, so that's why it doesn't really "know what a hard level is". I have never cared so much for the gameplay than before (and ironically lost because of it), and you won't believe how hard the level was previously. It's like a completely different level now. I would never submit a level that intends to be hard, though. This community consists 80% of pussies that say "hard levels are automatically bad regardless of what's in it", so I'd be incredibly downrated and my efforts would have been wasted just because of the difficulty.

What I don't understand, though, is what switch you are talking about. There is no switch necessary to beat the level at all, except those in the second half, but you can't really overlook those, because you wouldn't be able to get further without them anyway. And yes, the aesthetics were worrying me. Nowadays, it's almost obligatory to have some fucking masterpiece-like custom handmade tilesets and other shit to have your level considered as good, but I didn't even bother to recolor the tileset. That is because I thought it suits the atmosphere I wanted to convey perfectly.

I'd also like to point out that the issue shown in the screenshot is a glitch with the SMBX engine that cannot be prevented. It occurs when NPCs don't spawn correctly, which can happen sometimes. I needed to have the upside down water replace NPCs because I had no animated 32x32 BGOs with four frames with mask left anymore.

He is right about 80% of the community being pussies. I mean seriously, look at the difficulties I assigned. You can count how many levels got higher than a 3 on your fingers.

Also yeah, even if it's tiny little edits in palette, that's a great way to differentiate yourself from everybody else who uses the same graphics you do. I HOPE MORE PEOPLE DO THIS NEXT TIME.

Huh? I never complained about my place (at least I didn't mean to come across that way). I didn't even participate in you poll. I guess I need to work on how I word my posts...

I do find it odd that the two judges who gave my level low scores were the two who got the most votes on your poll, though, as that causes my level to have the greatest increase in placement.
