I've never understood why some users here find humor in taking the name of another and create an incredibly similar name to use on IRC, whether it be mocking or in jest. Does it hurt to ask for permission?

Well, I didn't steal my name from Quill if that's what you're saying. I made it up myself but realized Quill had Melia already so I made a similar name because Melia was already taken.

I jave used "dragon7777" on "armorgames.com" a long time ago, and before I finalized my "universal username", I made the mistake of calling myself as "FlightlyBird777" on PSN, and since you can never change it, I can not change it to "MECHDRAGON777"

I will say this, people is salt forget my name is in all caps, and someone verbally called me "MECHADRAGON777"!

Sorry for changing my username so many times!

Sometimes people like to have fun acting like other users/people to see what short of conversation they can have, than actually being themselves, if you get what I mean Layla

That's technically stealing of identity though. What if other users actually think you are zlaker? It's not always about your fun, and if someone would give himself a strikingly similar name to mine and started acting lik ea douchebag I wouldn't be happy tbh.

Thats why we got the enforce time command, so the name changes into guestnumbers and people know it's not the real one. Plus the ip the person uses tells it also. As well it's against the chat rules to pretend to be someone else.

Some people can/still fall for it. Having . or ` can fool people into believing it's the real person, but it really not...

Back at Knux forum's IRC, unused "Flandre_Scarlet" just when I started likin touhou! I did not know bossedit8 use it back then "FlandreScarlet" so people thought I was him, and I am the one with the underscore! I still use that nick when he is online or if I ever go back to irc...

I asked and was told it was okay though...
