Hello everyone, it's me Eri7. It's quite unexpected for me to host a contest considering it's not an official contest but i asked my discord server if they are interested in one and i got over 20 replies which meant that this contest is happening.
So here are the rules:
2.0/1.3 and 38A levels are allowed however as you can see, they are not compatible with each other which means they will be separated into 2 parts of the finished episode.
Please try to keep your level in english if possible.
Levels should be designed only around mario and luigi.
Multiple levels are ALLOWED, yep.
Penalties won't be added anymore, instead we will fix all of the problems the levels have and if they prove to be way too hard and unenjoyable, we will make sure they become
fun to play as the priority in the end of the day is to have the finished version of the contest be fun to play but we are judging levels based on their original state upon submission.
Teasers/Trailers:
Deadline
The contest will start on February 1, 2019 and all levels must be submitted to me in a PM or through discord by May 1, 2019, at 12:00 PM (Central European Time). They must be in a .zip file with the level and necessary files. No encrypted levels are allowed. By submitting a level you also agree for the level to be part of an SMBX episode/s that will feature all of the levels submitted.
The .zip file must be organized like this:
Inside the .zip there must be a level file and the data folder, and all of the custom sound effects.
All custom sound effects must start with the name of your level with a "-" ("levelname-soundName").
Inside the data folder is where all of your custom GFX, music, NPC codes and everything else must go. Do not place the level data outside the data folder, except for custom sound effects.
You can also provide a txt file where you can give some short description of the level or something.
Also please tell me in which version must your level be played in after submitting it to me.
Reward?
Well, winning the 2.0/1.3 and 38A contest will give you a reward which is... the winner can choose one character, OC or from a game and i will design him as a boss in the finished episode.
Also for everyone who participate in the contest, there will be the optional reward of having their OC or a character they want to appear in the episode as a friendly npc and their lines will be provided by the participants.
NEW REWARD: There is now the optional reward of adding an advertisement sign that will be in different sizes for the participate's project/episode/level/youtube channel/etc!

Aw, my bad. It was made on the 2.0 version. Thanks for being so gracious.
Thank you for the submission, it has been counted already!
Cool! Feel free to DM me the review, I'm all for constructive criticism, and it just my save my episode.
The results will be publicly shown when judging has ended. And there will be 2 ranking videos showing 15 seconds of each level and their position on Contest 2.0/38A + nominations for best Gameplay, Aesthetics and Creativity which will earn you the reward of the winner even if you haven't won any of the contests.

The deadline got "extended" to 15-th May, and its called a late deadline which means the people who said they are going to make a level and need only few days more to complete it, can still have time to finish it and submit a level.
Judging has been going on since the beginning of the contest so it doesn't change much the time needed for the results. The results however are expected to get done at the end of May or somewhere around June, then you can do whatever you want with your submited levels while i can start development on the episode form of the contest soon which will use the submissions and SUPRISE, it will "improve" them to be better in a sense to be fun to play and enjoyable, the videos of the results will contain 15 seconds of each level showcasing the creator's name and his position in Part 1 or Part 2 of the contest aka 2.0/38A. Also there will be 3 "trophies" handed to the people who got the highest score in creativity, gameplay and aesthetics, winners of the contest WON'T get them, why? Because getting this "trophy" means that you will win the same reward as a winner of the contest and your level in the HUB(episode form) will contain a trophy near it.
Once the results have been showed, i will request for this topic to get locked and make a new topic for the episode form of the contest.

Nice, I wouldn't have been able to finish my level in time without the extension.

Yeah, i know few people who need this extension to finish their levels so that's why i have added it!

Just a reminder that this contest is still ongoing, and if you can no longer access Eri7 to submit your levels to due to him being banned, you can now do so through me!
Added in 3 minutes 58 seconds:
And also Super Mario Nova Zero (the upcoming project showcasing Eri's early levels) is NOT cancelled.

The Deadline of the contest is finally over. We probably set a new record in terms of most submissions for an unofficial contest in this community!
I don't wanna argue but wasn't LCJ kinda official?
Not to my knowledge? Iirc it was just brought to the west by Horikawa, and nobody cared about the results in the end.

LCJ is in the Level Contests forum in the archives, and was a global announcement when it was happening iirc. It was defnitely recognised as official and endorsed by the staff.

Huuuh interesting cause Waddle also doesn't consider it official. I asked him about it before posting because of how "grey" it is. Depends on your definition I guess? For me and from my memory it definitely was much less significant and promoted than anything in the community contest and grand extravaganza series. But whatever.
