Is that fortress or sky? If it's a fortress level it needs to not have a sky background, and if it's a sky level it can't have blocks or BGOs on top. Also, the red lines will have to go.

It's a sky level. I made some edits and removed the red lines.

That's completely acceptable! My entry is SMB1 styled too, and Joey only said SMB3 was the preferred style, not the only one!

Where is there actually such a rule?
It's obvious though that this is quite bland, with the only custom graphic being the purple water.
