I'll definitely consider doing that when I actually get good at making tilesets.

You "get good" by doing so, actually. I'm expecting great stuff from you to be honest.

NEVAH!!
The fill is somewhat weird, but original at the same time. I personally don't see myself using it, but can't say it looks bad to be honest.

I am currently working on a magma-cave tile set called "Scoria Subterrane". This is incredibly hard to make because:
1. I don't have paint.net anymore since I have a Mac.
2. I can't play smbx anymore so I can't even try it out to see if it works fine.
I will show what I made so far later, I'm gonna work on it some more. It's actually looking good so far.

Sorry for double post but I just finished my tile set is ready enough to be shown.
Scorching Subterrane

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Eh, there is too little contrast on the red in your tileset ConXus. Also either make more squares with less of the noise (a terminology used in the pixel art community that describes independent single pixels being described here that doesn't sufficiently convey information by themselves and does not contribute to the piece and serves only to interrupt the area it inhabits and distract the viewer) or make edits to your existing squares to reduce your independent pixels.
While on the current subject of underground tilesets, here is mine: http://s17.postimg.org/ll9ymr43f/Speaki ... ground.png
Slopes will be added soon. Do not use yet.
EDIT:

zomfg how does one beat this genericness?
I like the texture.
You like a pillow-shaded texture? That is an inherent no-no when it comes to spriting. Don't do that.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will be fixing those pixels to make them look better, perhaps make them large stones, idk. I will post again tomorrow with an update.

It works for tileset fills on occasion. Don't say something like that without having tried it before.

I don't know about tilesets, but I had experience with sprinting npcs with pillow-shading, looks really ugly. Just make shading on the lower right edge to make it look good.

No I can. I've tried it before with a space station tileset I made, showed it off to a couple of my spriter friends in their Skype group, they noticed the alarms being pillowshaded. And even if I didn't try it before, I can still say it because I've seen spriting showcase topics on various other forums on the Internet that shows posts saying why pillowshading is bad, typically if its devolved into an argument.

I think the best way for you to see is if you'd import a few tiles into SMBX and see for yourself. It's already been pointed out what's wrong and it hasn't changed since:
The rocks on the tileset are too bright/the dirt is too dark
There's not enough contrast between the shading on the dirt.

1. I can't play SMBX on Mac. I will have to ask someone else to test it for me.
2. I can fix the dirt AND make it better by adding a pattern for example.
3. What do you mean by contrast?

1. Pick any lava background, open it in paint and start copypasting the tiles in front of it in a pattern you'd make. Or learn to dualboot windows and macOS
2. If you insist...
3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrast_%28vision%29
