Just saw Joey's edit reason and I have to agree. TNT, you shouldn't associate someone with a label as "Level Judge." That's just offensive.

Perhaps I should have asked about reports here instead.

To Joey: I'm not expecting a certain string of actions to be taken, I just expect actions to be taken at all when there's a problem. Just so you're aware, I'm not the one monitoring staff; I'm just a mouthpiece for the concerns often raised in PM due to discussion not being able to be carried out publicly.

Furthermore, there is a concern about how things are being handled which needs to be discussed without flashing status, and shutting down discussion because some of the situations that I've heard in PM are just ridiculous. I know about the "what happens in the staff forum stays in the staff forum," and you guys can run the forum as good or poorly as you want, however there's a rule about respect which goes both ways and accountability is just standard for any action at all.

Newsflash: Banning/deleting bot accounts & their IPs doesn't solve the problem. Establishing better registration security does.

I know you're busy, Joey, but please put this on the top of your priority list, because this is a real security issue.

Wait, what was that exactly? I'm sure it was something bad but what makes it different from other recent spam posts (or is it different)?

It was an automated spambot message in the General forum.

Aero, again, just because issues aren't being handled the way you want them to doesn't mean they're not being handled properly.

TNT, if it's getting to the point where a single spambot post bothers you this much then you really need to start ignoring it. Spam sometimes happens on Internet forums - there is no magic button that will protect this forum from all spam forever. There is also the new reCAPTCHA that, assuming this hasn't changed in the last few months, is not usable with this board software without significant modification to internal code.

I'm growing tired of the above two discussions.

i'm sorry but if the posts above bother you this much then you really need to start ignoring them.

Things aren't being handled in most cases, and I think it has to do with me filing the report rather than the report itself, which is what I'm saying. I don't want/need things to be handled the way I want, they just need to be handled period. I don't know if you're aware, but as far as reporting and questioning things around here my PMs are ignored and some will get a PM from a certain admin going after you for speaking about something publicly for no reason.

Also there's not one magic button, but there is like three that can set up Newly Registered Users with posting restrictions. After a few minutes of googling this extension came up and implements the captcha without modifying internal code or whatever.

For what are the bots in this thread? (e.g. Bing(Bot), Yahoo(Bot)) And do these bots related to spambots?

The registered bots on these forums (the ones with the gray names) just scan the forums for information for search engines, etc. They don't ever post, therefore they can't be spam bots

Can you give me a link for its example? (I'll do it for my own risk.)

No, because they all get deleted relatively quickly (both the posts and the users) and there are none present on the forums right now to my knowledge
