Hey, all! Mafia is back, and with it, we've brought in some new changes that will roll out, so let me detail them for you real quick.
New Hosting Mechanic
Previously, when you would host a game, you would be put on a two-game delay before you could host again. While this was quite effective in allowing other people to host, we're thinking of applying a simpler and much fairer system. Game hosts will only be allowed to host a game once per month, and this cycle will reset on the 1st of every month (with some exceptions to certain hosts, such as ones that start near the end of a month). Since 3 to 4 games are usually played each month, this gives a steady rotation and opens up the possibilities for other potential hosts.
GM Applications
Relatively soon, we will be rolling out some GM applications, as we are currently looking for one new GM. The applications will be a simple form to fill out, and the current GMs (Pseudo and I) will review them, and pick who we think fits best as a third active GM. This third GM will help us enforce rules, agree upon decisions, and monitor games. In addition to this, we are going to (hopefully) roll out monthly or bimonthly game/rule updates and suggestions that not only us GMs will discuss, but we will discuss with the player-base as well. That's something cool to look forward to!
Rule Changes/Updates
The Mafia Rules will receive an update, mostly to previously-ruled things (such as the banning of Revival mechanics), but there will be extensive clarifications as well. Another thing that I do want to point out that should have been in place originally, but has been overlooked until now, is that you are still bound by the forum rules while playing Mafia, and you may receive a forum-wide punishment if the staff sees that your post exceeds to that. The only Mafia-related punishments you should likely receive would be breaking the Mafia rules themselves, forum rules are handled by the forum staff. With this, I would like to encourage good behavior and teamwork, this is a game, and I expect you all to have fun playing it. If you have any issues while playing the game, please direct your concerns to the GMs, and we will find out how to handle it.
The Return
To get people back into Mafia, I'm going to throw up a game that will introduce some new players into the game. After that kickstart, we'll get right back into host sign-ups as we have before. This game is mostly to get new players into it, but it will also give people time to come up with games for the host sign-ups, and everything will fall back into place.
With Mafia's return, however, there is one thing that I must make absolutely clear. It will only stay around for as long as people want it around. If any drama is started, we will not hesitate to pull the plug on Mafia again indefinitely. Game bans are going to be more strictly enforced, but this coincides with the fact that punishments can be taken to a forum-wide level. Keep to your best behavior, get along with others and show good sportsmanship, and most definitely have fun.
And with that, M42 will show up pretty soon!

So there was a message by 8flight on his Mafia Discord that I would like to bring up because it could be valuable information to prevent a future M41

True, most of the bad behavior is caused by this. Mafia is a competitive game, don't play it if you are nervous

Because I can not stress
either of these things enough,
please read not only the
Mafia Rules / How to Play thread, but also the
How to Format Mafia Games thread. They contain useful tips, general rules, and just base things you should need to know about Mafia and creating a game
for Mafia.

Hey, in the future, please don't make posts like this (
viewtopic.php?f=75&p=290008#p290008) soliciting Mafia regulars who haven't signed up for the current game. These users usually read the signup threads on their own and have their reasons for not joining the game, and posts like this only cause frustration and unnecessary pressure for those alerted. Thanks.

Is their a way to be signed up for a notification at least?

If you're subscribed to the subforum and if you generally get notifications from new threads, then you'll automatically notice (or even if you don't have the latter, then you'll notice it by the replies)

I never found out how to do that. I just appreciate the ping from the host when a new game is live. I missed M42 because I was not informed.

This is why you check the Mafia forum or pay attention to #mafia to see when new games are held. Host signups last nearly a week, and player signups last half as long, so you literally have a week and a half to find out that there's a new game coming around. If you miss a week and a half of notice, that starts to become your fault for not keeping up with current events.
