The town's luck is being ridiculous in this game

It's really mandatory to extend day phases if people are upvoted late. A good time for phase change for European host and many American players is in the European morning, when Americans could use the whole evening before and sneak-in votes are less likely to happen.

I completely and utterly disagree with everything you just said. If someone says a day phase will last 24 hours and end exactly on a given time. Nothing except for really special incidents (like 101marioguy) should change that end time. It isn't that the host should adapt to the player's timezones but more the other way around. And depending on who the host is the one continent might be luckier than the other. But when a different host is chosen it might aswell be the other way around. And I don't know why sneak-and safety voting is a bad thing. It's just a thing in mafia. Sure, it sucks when you die because of a safety vote or a KITB but it isn't something that needs fixing in my opinion.

In that case you don't just die due to a safety vote. You die due to not being able to defend yourself over multiple hours due to your circumstances, and you're really on the bad side of luck if the early hours of the phase is your only possible time interval to be active.

If you don't like that then don't join games where the hosts timezone could put the day and night cycle out of your favour.

Yeah, remember that the host has a life too and is often doing a lot more related to the game than the players, what with having to keep up with messages from every alliance, not just their own. Hosts will change phases whenever they're most available to do so, and it's the responsibility of the players to work with this as best they can. There's nothing wrong with requesting a different time if the host's preferred time is inconvenient for a large number of players, but it's ultimately up to the host and standard phase change times would be impossible to work with for some hosts.

My point is that I agree with Mosaic and DVPM if/when they say it was unfair.

so it seems like it's the responsibility of all players to start voting quickly, but if they don't then it's a single person at school paying for it if a vote comes late on them. Additionally, if someone votes very quickly at the start of day phase without a good lead, they're often at risk of getting suspected or even bandwagoned themselves, aren't they?

problem is that the host can't accomodate every player, especially not on an international forum. Arbitrary phase extensions could mess up some strategies as well. The host can't make it so everyone is around during phase changes.

I think the gamemasters said they would do a new host signups for M40

TNT is not automatically hosting M40, we would have held sign-ups for that. Regardless, Pseudo and I are in discussion on what to do for M40.
