Good news SMBX, I made a new SEGA Mega Drive style background for my GFX pack:

Holy cow, this looks so modern, amazing job Squishy, also I have a question, would you return on making more Captain Toad tilesets since I'm working on a Captain toad project and your current assets have been very useful so farSquishy Rex wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 4:14 amWell it's getting there slowly. Might expand the Star Express beyond the specific carriages you get in Treasure Tracker so you can make decent train levels. Just a thought. Anyway the wheels and wheel rods are all animated now so that's a thing.

I would like to eventually or at least once I finish this little project. The tilesets I'd like to do next would either be Razzle Dazzle Slider, Poison Canal Cannon Run or Double Cherry Spires.
This would be amazing to see, thanks a lot Squishy.Squishy Rex wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 4:28 amI would like to eventually or at least once I finish this little project. The tilesets I'd like to do next would either be Razzle Dazzle Slider, Poison Canal Cannon Run or Double Cherry Spires.
Looks pretty decent! Quick question: Assuming these are BGOs, is each individual carriage a single BGO, or are the carriages made up of smaller BGOs? If it's the latter then i think it'll be more customisable, i.e. ability to make carriages of a custom length. Though if it's the former, that's still fair enoughSquishy Rex wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 4:14 amWell it's getting there slowly. At this point everything is made of blocks, and the wheels are made using the airship block NPCs. The only parts that are BGOs at this point are the yellow fences. Also since SMBX2 can take advantage of custom block sizes, this also means the tileset for the engine and carriages is quite small, with that said though, it doesn't compromise on the collision/hitboxes of all the separate parts on the engine (especially) so it feels a bit more authentic.Taycamgame wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 11:19 amLooks pretty decent! I was planning to create a train level for my current project so this might really help with that!
In my opinion, the crystals look fine and the background looks decent.FireyPaperMario wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 7:17 amI think I'm done with this custom SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis underground background.... Might be wrong to be honest with y'all SMBX members:
Should I darken the crystals?
those are crystals? They legit look like rocks. You have the shading pretty much down, but these sprites lack the proper amounts of highlights to portray the reflective properties of a crystal.FireyPaperMario wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 7:17 amI think I'm done with this custom SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis underground background.... I know that by the time you quote me, I kinda used the rock patterns from Labyrinth zone to add to this BG tbhPROX wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 5:52 amthose are crystals? They legit look like rocks. here's an example of how highlighting can work with gems
(I didn't make these btw)
ah well those are just rocks anyways, so that makes more sense, but you called them crystals, and that's why I said what I said, but ok.FireyPaperMario wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 6:12 amI know that by the time you quote me, I kinda used the rock patterns from Labyrinth zone to add to this BG tbhPROX wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 5:52 amthose are crystals? They definitely look like chaos emeralds, shading-wisePROX wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 6:50 amah well those are just rocks anyways, so that makes more sense, but you called them crystals, and that's why I said what I said, but ok.FireyPaperMario wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 6:12 amI know that by the time you quote me, I kinda used the rock patterns from Labyrinth zone to add to this BG tbhPROX wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 5:52 amthose are crystals?
