New powerups are on the spreadsheet, but they don't have the highest of priority now. (This has also been requested many times already)

I have an idea! The propeller suit, blue shell (power-up), mega and mini mushrooms, and other power ups that SMBX-38A has should be added in NSMBX v1.1!

was that in SMBX2. I thought so.

It would be cool to see all of these new power-ups, also the penguin suit would be a fine addition imo.

Controls.ini/.conf (some form of external input configuration file-a must)
For those that struggle with remapping the gamepad because it doesn't accept input properly, YEAH LIKE ME. IT'S BECAUSE OF THIS I CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO EVEN CONTINUE PAST THAT AND NO I DON'T USE THE BLEEDING KEYBOARD.

I do plan to add new power ups, but not too much of them. Honestly, power ups idea sounds awful to me, because i've got a looot of power ups requests, so it just seems annoying.

Powerups are probably the most requested thing for Mario Engines, altough I dont think they're really something that great and needed, there is a lot more stuff to make cool levels, new NPCs, bugfixing, scripts, and other stuff that can easily replace any gimmick that PowerUps could give ALTOUGH I do think that Frog/Penguin could be cool because they are way more than just the "i give you a lot of airmovement v4.0" or just another broken projectile, since they give that player water movement, specially the frogsuit because it makes movement on land slow in exchange of a lot of water movement
Added in 2 minutes 20 seconds:
PD: and anyways frog suit is getting added so, mission complete?

I'm not sure what controll.ini is (probably common knowledge but I'm having brain farts) but I think you can use a Xbox360 hand controllers or joysticks with smbx 1.3 so nsmbx and 2.0 should be compatible too.
I find the keyboard to be harder to use then a hand controller.

...I meant to say that the game isn't responding to gamepad input when attempting to remap buttons.
controls.ini/.conf or an external config.ini would be an alternative if the internal remapper is unresponsive/nonexistent.

Maybe a long term solution would be revamping control system with SDL just like how X2 did some months ago, but well thats going to take some time.

In the meantime, my potato PC can run SMBX 2 Beta 3 (and yes, can change inputs no problem), but this and Beta 4, nope.
Well, maybe the in-game portion would run fine, but the default button mapping I don't want, thanks.

I could basically repeat my opinion from 38A about the frog suit, I think it's pretty pointless since the penguin suit gives you fast swimming abilities and an attack (plus sliding on ice). The frog suit has no attack, and is a big hindrance outside water. So yeah I'd prefer more to see the penguin suit alone in NSMBX.

I got yet ANOTHER curious question about New SMBX:
Are custom sprites that have all forms having more than 2 frames of walking animation, running animations, and/or attacking allowed to be used in this version? If the answer is yes, then I guess I'll port my custom Mario sprites into this. ^^"

The cape feather would be a good addition, also they should add recent powerups, like the Boomerang Flower and the Super Bell.

Hey guys, I don't want to be the party pooper around here but currently, new powerups are not a priority at all. Please hold all your requests until we are ready to work on new powerups.

Patch is finally uploaded! Aside from bug fixes several new features were added into game:
-block-n.txt
-background-n.txt
-tile-n.txt
-path-n.txt
-level-n.txt
-scene-n.txt
-(and most epic feature)
I want to say huge thanks to Josh Oliver (for extending block-n.txt and making tile-n.txt, path-n.txt and level-n.txt) and other new nsmbx devs. And huge thanks to folks who report bugs to us!
You can download patch in the main topic!

So, I see a settings file, but I do not understand the values.
As it stands, trying to remap the gamepad is causing the entire game to go ballistic, and unresponsive because the remapping logic is...
Eh.
Okay, just send me a gamepad config where the following values are applied:
Hat Switches = dpad directions
Button 0 = Run
Button 1 = Jump
Button 2 = Alt Jump
Button 4 = Alt Run
Button 8 = Drop Item
Button 9 = Pause
Too much?

For configuring blocks, backgrounds, tiles and etc! (for example you can configure their sizes) It seems like you are not aware of npc-n.txt existence
