There's two tickboxes because the one furthest to the right means it'll be written to the file. This is for the purpose of the animator or if you're modifying a bunch of values and you just don't want them to write to the file. If you did, each file would probably contain every single line for every single code and this could either

A. Screw up SMBX
B. Be a mess
or C. Screw with some NPC's

Ah, the editor isn't finding an NPC text file in the same directory as your graphics and that's why its giving you that error. I'd just go about editing your values or saving a blank dummy file with the custom graphic, then you can use the browse to open it.

As for standard SMBX graphics, if you've already told the editor what your SMBX directory just go ahead and use the new file dialog and select the NPC you want to edit and it'll find that graphic for you.

Lol..and in testing this I found a bug...I'll fix that

Wow, this Npc Code Editor comes really handy if you don't know any of the npc codes ( Like I do ). Don't see any problems with it at all. It really easy too use and I highly recommend this to all SMBX level designers who want to edit their Npcs. :)

for example: metallica's a nostalgic band for me as it brings back memories. it probably works out better with really old stuff but I'm using the term loosely here

However, I will be redesigning it to be more friendly for high resolutions (512x512 max with appropriate icons for <32px sizes) I will also be slightly modifying the color scheme.

I can't choose any coin npcs in the New Npc Configuration menu

I'm quite confused myself by this. Have you tried other NPC's or coins? Specifically which coin are you attempting to pick?

I've been looking at this for quite a while, but haven't used it until today. Even though NPC coding isn't overly challenging, even for less experienced users, this tool is very helpful. One question however, does the "name" code have any in game functions or is it just an organizational feature for the .txt editor if you have many files going at a time? Thanks.
