Postby Lx Xzit » Wed Nov 05, 2014 3:57 pm

I was going to use this in the CC9, but the deadline has won me back, so I not participated in the contest, the reason why I post this is because I think never had posted one level here, this level will be used in my project, Please enjoy!

UNOFFICIAL REVIEW OF
Mystical Skies by Dark-Mecha77

Fantastic level here. I loved this one a lot.

Design 9/10
Awesome level! I had so much fun with this. The moving layers work perfectly,
aside from the first rising platform which failed me a few times. I took off a point mainly
because of the billy gun room; why is it there? It seems to serve no real purpose, no items
or anything. Is it just a shortcut?

Atmosphere 10/10
Major points here. I truly felt like I was flying high into the sunset while playing this.
"Mystical Skies" also looks great and the music fits the level perfectly. This reminded me of
the sky levels from Kirby's Return to Dreamland, same sunset and relaxing atmosphere. You pulled
this off extremely well.

Other Comments: I have nothing more to say here, really. This level was just phenomenal.

Overall 9.5/10
One of the best levels I have ever seen/played. Good job, dude.

This level is very beautiful, the graphics is very good, i really like this, the level design is nice, and fun, and the level pleased my eyes. I dont saw a special gimmick, or something, but the platform appear after collect the red coin is very well done. The switch is good implemented in the level. I love this graphics and level! Good job!

MyNameIsEric52: Thanks for your comment!

Warlock: I also agree with that, but as you can see, there are not many judges available at this time, so it may take a while ...

Turtwig: Thanks for your review !, but let me give you some advice for you to judge in an excellent manner, you must "feel" the level, you must fully absorb the level, and then write A detailed review about it, was not bad, but I think you could give some "feeling" on the details. ^^

Shinbison-Kof: Thank you for your comment! and I like beautiful things you said to my level, and I´ve tried add a special mechanism in the level, but did not have time to finish it. Do you see the section of the bullet Billy and the section where you have to pick a boot to advance? , these were considered "special mechanisms", just that I could not get much out due to lack of time, this level has been published a specific reason, and I not had time to do the "little details", I also like very much that you said that the graphics are beautiful, the tileset was made by me and most recoloured, which makes me very happy, I had to work a lot on that recoloured, thanks for your comment! That's right, you can try to be a little more detailed, for example: "While I played the level I saw a nice decoration that combined perfectly with other graphics, an environment that gave me inspiration to keep playing"" you have to be honest and detailed as you can, you should also look on those minute details, and try not to mention the mistakes, always be optimistic levels you qualify, always tries to be optimistic with the levels you give your reviews, look the better side as possible. ^^

If there were flaws in the level you mention them IMO. But hey, we all judge differently.

Don't take it the wrong way, I'm grateful for you suggestion. I just don't really write/talk like that. I like to be a bit more exact, like that judge in CC7 (Fire something)

No, I was not taking bad, and I'm also grateful for your comments, and that was what I was trying to say, try to be more accurate, I think you missed some important details.

It's been a while since I've done a review. c:
(Also zlaker wtf u doing not reviewing it still fair game for me c:)

Design
The design here is just absolutely phenomenal. The entire space between things was just right so it wasn't too cramped or felt too open, and the NPCs were all placed in very nice spots, providing some decent obstacles and gimmicks to be done. SPEAKING of good gimmicks (what's this color switch doing here?!) the way you used the water bubbles and kuribo shoe was ingenious, and also provided plenty of cringy jumps. Block placement and scenery is all downright gorgeous as well, using the near perfect mix of cloud and grassland tileset here. Coins were aplenty, but I felt a couple more powerups could have been implemented, unless you were going for a slightly harder, less forgiving level. I will say though, the piranha plant right next to the green switch is absolutely unavoidable for me, and I didn't take well to that part. Some of those jumps are still cruel, like I already said, but that's not too much of a problem.

9.7/10

Visual Appeal
Everything goes together perfectly in this level. The mixing of the tilesets is done in a perfect and gorgeous fashion. Tileset and scenery choices were all great as almost nothing felt out of place. Those SMB3 vines are a different color than the rest of the plant green colored parts of the level and in return stick out like a sore thumb. Other than this one nitpick, I can't complain at all about anything else because the way you decorated is basically perfect.

10/10

Gameplay
I'll simply just reiterate the fact this level has some downright cruel jumps. I'm surprised I easily survived most of them, save the piranha plant in the small switch section. Most of the NPCs were placed in fairly decent spots to create the fair yet difficult aspect in this level, save the piranha plant in the small switch section again. About the cruel jumps? Well, being underwater in the bubbles while inside the kuribo shoe creates some very unforgiving jumps since you can't get out of the shoe underwater. I will give you props though for using the physics of the kuribo shoe and underwater limitations with the kuribo shoe.

9.4/10

Music
I adored the music of this level because of how fast paced, dramatic, and beautiful it sounds. I would say it even fits somewhat. Just looking up the name (Chad would love this level because of the music, it's Kirby) I wouldn't have expected something like this to fit in a fantasy grassland/sky kind of level. Nice job on the find and it fitting, and sounding good all the same!

9.9/10

Gorgeous level, and it was still fun to play!
9.75/10

Thanks for the review of my level, I was very eager to see it, also thanks for beautiful things that you said at my level, the reason I seem SMB3 branches in key locations, is because at this level I'm looking get rid of Yoshi (the previous at this level has it and I want to get rid of it in a natural way :p) and I had not noticed the SMB3 branches do not match with the rest of recoloured level, I'll recolor the branch of SMB3 thanks for the suggestion, regarding the music, it was very difficult to find this topic, I try to find it per many days, would primarily use the theme "Kirby - Bubbly Clouds", but I realized that a level of Chad and contained that song, and that due to the "wild zones" on the level, would be a problem regarding the graphics, thanks for appreciating, it was very difficult to achieve the perfect recoloured, as he attempted to give a perfect orange, it looked too colored the level, so after hours of editing to achieve the perfect tone, and the reason why it is not very complicated level, because this level belongs to the world 1 and does not vary much with the powers because there is only the mushroom and fire flower style SMB1.

Thanks TNTtimelord or (Layla) by the review, I'm glad you enjoyed my level.
What do you mean with "Jumping cruel"? Could you explain this please?

There were some pretty hard and unforgivable jumps, like the piranha plant next to the switch and the goomba in between the bubbles (of course this only applies if you have the boot at that point).

Thanks for the gameplay Blck_Guy I wanted a gameplay video that level but I never had time to do it, and with your video, I can study some reactions of the player, I did not notice, but I think the powers are somewhat unevenly distributed, and some jumps seemed to be very difficult, I'll fix these things, I am immensely grateful for the gameplay video, I saw from start to finish and was very good, and thanks for the nice things that you said about him.

Your welcome. But in the Kuribo's Shoe, it was only hard for me, because I can't jump and hold the right key at the sametime :)

Sorry for the delay in answering this, I think I'll remove the section of the Kuribo's shoe and the section of the green switch, I do it because I need to shorten and facilitate a bit this level for my project, Thanks for your suggestions!.
