When I first discovered the SMBX forums, I was happy to know that there were more than just four episodes made for SMBX (The Invasion 1 doesn't count). However, I noticed that none of the levels featured any sort of scaling or mode 7 of any kind, so I made a short level to showcase what SMBX is capable of in the hopes that, maybe, someone would decide to use some sort of pseudo-3D effect in his or her level. So far, it hasn't worked (even Return To Dinosaur Land, which tried so hard to be SMW, didn't even try to recreate SMW's rotation or scaling effects), but I still have hope...
DISCLAIMER: This is one of the first levels I ever made in SMBX (September 2012 to be exact), so please don't complain about clash or cutoff (I didn't know about them at the time).
This shit is really frikkin' amazing, I just have to say. If somebody could use this on a large-scale basis I would be amazed, although I have a feeling that this is really hard to create. I greatly respect you, Imaynotbehere4long.
I don't get this. Why did people ignore Imaynotbehere4long when he first made his episode with all those levels and here people are treating him like a really great SMBX user. He actually deserved this respect much earlier. Especially for the 3D level which I loved. (Even though it was Sonic, so respect again) I really like all this stuff, but unfortunately I don't have any use for this. Still, you've done a great job here.
Yay, three comments have nothing to do with my level!
All joking aside, I'm glad you all like it and that it still holds up even after almost two years. I will say, unlike other custom graphics, I didn't necessarily make this so that other people could use these same graphics; rather, I made it to show that it can be done in the first place, and maybe inspire others to make their own pseudo-3D effects. However, to my knowledge, nobody else has done anything of this caliber.
Fun fact: while I was making this, I was worried that someone else would make and release something like this first (and possibly on a larger scale, or that it had already been done and I never noticed), and I would get chastised for brashly assuming that I was the first and only person to make something like this in SMBX.
Dude this thing breaks the 5th wall! I can already imagine how badass would smbx levels be by using these (almost) isometric gfx! This should be pinned or something, the ideea is really neat!
Nope NSMBX isn't being made anymore since 2013 i think it was cancelled just the forum reopened but they won't work on it anymore so we only have VSMBX and PGE.
Why didn't I comment on this before? It looks incredibly amazing for SMBX but even if these Functions are there or not it is still a 2D Platformer but that is just me overall. I really like them.
