I think you're being silly but I agree that long levels are great. 6-10 minutes is fine for a nonlinear level, and 3-4 is okay for linear.

This is a discussion on level design. It's no more offensive than a English class teaching how to write literature. If someone doesn't like say, the style of not splitting dialogue into paragraphs or unbalanced character interactions, then the author shouldn't be able to silence all discussion of literary works from that point on. If you find offense in the idea that levels should aim for a specific length, I don't think level design discussions are for you.

I don't know what your levels are like. If people enjoy your levels, you should know that they are good already. If they don't enjoy your levels, then you need to improve.

I'd say a good 5 minute level is good enough. Length isn't really what i base reviews or levels off, it's gameplay and aesthetics to me.

I personally don't like too long levels, either (yes, I know I made one for CC7, but I kinda regret it by now; I just thought single levels have to be very long since they're not episodes ._.).
With no midpoint, I'd say a level shouldn't exceed 3 minutes. With a midpoint, up to 5-6 minutes are okay for me. Everything above 10 minutes is just crazy, unless it's a super duper excellent or special level.

But every level thinks it's super duper excellent or special.

If you don't have your exceptions defined, I don't see why you would bring up exceptions.

I'd rather have Eric-length levels than SMSE levels. At least I don't have too much to redo if I die in the former.

I enjoy levels that are like the ones from Super Mario Bros 3. They are shorter and personally I get more of a sense of accomplishment when I get through a level that didn't take me 5 or 6 minutes. Levels that take a long time just feel like they drag on with the same things happening. If the level is long, it has to be done right (and that doesn't mean branching paths that lead to a key and then the sin of having to backtrack back to the door). Now levels that I can complete is 30 seconds to a minute are not enjoyable either. I'm somewhat in the middle. Super Mario Bros 3 had the feeling of being able to do what you want. Nothing telling you you have to go this way or take your time. It was either run through the levels real fast or take your time and find secrets or get all the coins. I would say 3 to 4 minutes is just fine.

I honk I prefer long levels! I was planing on making a level take four plus hours to beat, but I neve found the graphics. I prefer length if it is fair!
