SMBX Legacy Assets Collection

Postby Squishy Rex » Sat Feb 15, 2025 9:44 pm

To quote myself from Discord:
Spoiler: show
Just to clarify, no this isn't goodbye, no I'm not going anywhere, and no, the assets site isn't dead. Okay, everyone on the same page? Cool, now let's get to the meat and taters!

So, my time around here can be pretty sparse at times and hey, that's just life unfortunately. SMBX Preservation has been my passion for years now, and naturally it takes up a lot of time, that's just the nature of this beast. So, in an effort to at the very least ensure everything I have hoarded over the years is publicly accessible, I've decided to drop this behemoth.

What this is, is the entirety of my Graphics Packs collection. Everything I've saved from day one. It's entirely unsorted, essentially sitting as is since each item was downloaded and unzipped from either old forums or provided by other users like Murph. I don't even know if some of this stuff still exists outside of my own computer anymore.

It's just over 2GB of stuff, so I will slowly be adding to this over the next few days/weeks. If you have any questions etc, feel free to ask
I'm still in the process of uploading this stuff, it's going to take a little while, but it's a dump of literally everything I have asset wise. I'm not uploading episodes etc, because they are already organized and available on the forums, Wohlstand's archive and elsewhere.

Why isn't this being uploaded to the assets website? Well it will be in good time, however, this is just a safeguard to make sure that what I have is accessible now and into the future should I fall off the planet for whatever reason before getting everything sorted and uploaded properly.

On the note of being unsorted, there will most likely be duplicate files among other oddities, it's about as rough as you can get, but I guarantee there's some really cool stuff hidden away. That said, I did originally run a lot of stuff through the GIFs to PNGs converter and broke some assets due to the lack of masks etc, so there will be assets that need to be fixed. I apologize for that, but it doesn't seem to be much more than a sporadic issue at the very worst.

FYI Any files that contain a custom 1.3 exe will probably flag as a trojan virus, this is a false positive. I don't think there are any mixed in with my assets folder, but on the off chance there is one I forgot about, don't be alarmed.

Please be sure to check out the Unknown folder also included in a separate link. This stuff needs proper credits before it can be properly archived.

In any case, come and enjoy some vintage SMBX (2010-2015ish) stuff. I'll be working on this for the next couple days, so check in occasionally for even more stuff. If you have any questions etc, feel free to ask!

I see that v10.0 of my old GFX pack is in the legacy dump lol. Y'know, that version where I accidentally thought the Earthbound cow is from Hotel Mario lmao. Oh and also, I so happen to have some of the same downloads you got lol, so I might help in such case

Probably something that might help in the future anyway. If other users had older content that they can't see here, it might be something that we don't have archived at all. If anything hopefully this might serve as a little checklist, albeit being a bit of a mess because it hasn't been properly organized as of yet.
