They did say they would announce their next console by the end of the fiscal year (in other words the end of next March). I remember seeing a Twitter post about it online, but I couldn't find it so instead here's an article about it: https://www.polygon.com/nintendo/238995 ... name-games. Scroll down to the section 'When will the Nintendo switch 2 be announced?'.

Personally I think they'll announce it in February during the Nintendo direct they usually have then, just because in my opinion there's no point in announcing it later than that since it's just best they do it in conjunction with the direct. But that's just my personal opinion.

Personally I don't think it will be called the 'Nintendo Switch 2', or even be a direct sequel to it (like the Wii and wii-u, or the ds and 3ds) as anytime they did a 'sequel' console it never did well (like the Wii and Wii-U). It will probably still have the whole 'switch' mechanic but will also have some new and innovative feature besides just being more powerful. What are your thoughts?

The Wii U failed because of butchered marketing. And IDK about you, but 76 million sales is nothing to sneeze at. (Even if it was less than the DS)

Regardless, i think the Switch 2 can have a lot of potential in game storage and the opurtunity for newer games with better graphics, sound, engine...etc, I would speculate that their game storage. The Switch can hold 32 GB and the next console will expand to like 36-68 GB imo. Regardless, i think Nintendo has already learnt their lessons in marketing and not fail again like the poor 11 million unit sold Wii U.

Anyways, since we are talking about the next console, why don't we talk about launch games? as the name implies, they are released as early as the console's lifespan (Example: SNES's Pilotwings, Super Mario World, Sim City...) So uh, What are your speculations or thoughts in the next launch games? I personally think they finally would launch another mario kart entry (Mario Kart 9, Mario Kart X, you name it), would release and then another mainline 3D mario game. What do you think of the Switch 2 and its own launch games? Do you have some opinions or thoughts on the next console?

I think a new Mario Kart game could be a realistic launch title.
Mario Maker 3 I expect to release in late 2026 or early 2027.

But the big thing about the next console is that it'll have backwards compatibility to the Switch, which means the market might be flooded with Switches, making them more accessible to people who couldn't purchase it so far.

Wait, the 3DS did that well? I didn't know that :?... I thought it was 20 and a half million, which now that I think about is how much Mario kart 7 sold. Oops. Anyway I did know about marketing being the main reason of the Wii-U's failure, but frankly the console had a LOT of other issues anyway (such as the numerous bricks, many of them unfixable). So yeah, a 'sequel' console is completely reasonable and makes since. As long as they make it clear that switch 2 is different than switch 1 (another major reason the Wii-U failed)...

Yeah at this point this is probably what it's going to be, although Mario maker 3 is a bit of a wildcard at this point. Many believe that the reason Nintendo stopped doing updates for SMM2 is because it didn't do as well as they expected (which 8 million+ copies is still pretty good), so that might affect their budget for it. Also slightly random, before they announced and released Mario wonder I legit thought they wouldn't release another 2d Mario until the next console. But since the next console is confirmed to be backwards compatible, it does make sense that they are releasing a lot of games later into the switches' lifetime (such as wonder).

I've noticed a pattern in consoles whether they sell good or not, starting in the N64, sold as a instant hit, then coming with the gamecube, being the first console after the dethroned incident happened (being, Sony became the best videogame company after competition) and failed its sales and even the nintendo men (being, the mario man himself, Shigeru Miyamoto) stating that it was the worst console they made because they fell of the 'fun' stuff in videogames in general. Still, that dosen't mean it has bad games either. (being, Pikmin 1 & 2, Super Mario Sunshine, Pokemon Coloseum...etc). Moving on with the Wii. No explanation nesecary if you already know about the fact that it revolutionized and redifined of what makes it fun in videogames imo. Wii U? sold 11 million sales. Lower than the Gamecube. Poor thing didn't sold a penny thanks to weird marketing decisions. Switch was a great success and all, and im worried if this trend will affect the Switch 2. I hope not, as i think that Nintendo already took their lesson and actually changing for the better. Im confident with this multitrillion company since they recently turned for the better. (i.e: accepting diehard fan wishes, not being souless...) Bla bla bla i had enough yapping in this post so what is your opinion on this?

The chances of the next console being a failure are low, but never zero
