New version is up! Purely a bugfix update, fixes one or two crashes.

Hopefully the last one, all links are the same. If you already have any version of the game you can download using the patch link to not have to download everything.

This is NOT A JOKE. I need to know if the Secret Agent Toad reference is from Yoshi's Archipelago or not. I'm one of the developers for Yoshi's Archipelago & if the Secret Agent Toad referenced here is from that episode, whether or not if permission was asked to use or if this is a case of plagiarism.

It's not the same NPC, it's not "Agent Toad" but "Secret Agent Toad" and this character has been in the betterified series for the longest time. It's a different, original character.

Also, there is no need to get so heated. I was not trying to dismiss your question, but your first post left it very unclear what precisely you meant/why you singled out secret agent toad of all things.

This is a really good episode and I want to play it more but I'm completely locked out of it right now.

There's a bug where if you choose to reload the level after getting the checkpoint in the vertical level from world two that has lots of spike pillars the game will crash and you're unable to play the episode at all, it might also happen in the other levels. The error message that shows from it is:

LunaLoader Error
Error during CreateProcessW:
The system cannot find the file specified.

This error means that either some antivirus is interfering with SMBX loading, or that the smbx.exe file in SMBX2/data was deleted somehow. How this could occur after getting a checkpoint in a random level I don't know, but to fix it, try confirming if either of those two causes is what's going on in your case.

shell hell is broken for me? i'm trying to do the second run-through of the level where you only hold down, but when i reach the point where mario vertically screenwraps after getting knocked off the skull platform, the galoomba kills me?

UPDATE: i figured out why, it's because i was using the SMW mario costume, which I thought was PURELY cosmetic, but it does apparently have an impact on gameplay? my best guess is that it's maybe some kind of hitbox thing, since SMW mario has a crouch sprite, while SMB3 small mario doesn't? in any case, typing UNDRESS to go back to the default SMB3 mario sprites fixed it!

Hey guys, full smbx launcher version with betterified on it in the main post now. No more updates for this game ever.

A couple neat small tweaks that beta 5 let us do, dialogue fixes, general stability shit. Not a major update by any means but idk have fun with it
