Would anyone happen to know of a way to change section effects, such as weather, while a section is in progress. I've tried using Section:drawScreenEffect(id, camera) but I must be inputing the parameters wrong because I get an error.

Ok, so. I played your level. It's a pretty short level that quite accurately references the well-known game with the same game! I love the concept on paper, but... It seems the level is a tad bit too hard.

So, for starters, I can see it's a semi-automatic level as the only thing you can control is jumping, as right and run controls are automatic. There are 3 different paths, with each having a specific challenge I can see, but I'm afraid it's not exactly long. There isn't even any smooth beginnings: The first obstacle is a lava pit. I suggest you should pay attention to SM3DW's 4-step level design and make your level start off nice and easy, then scale up the difficulty at a reasonable pace. There are also thousands of errors generating as soon as you touch the gem.

Also, about the thing you wanted to know how to do so: (in code)

Code: Select all

function onEvent(n)
    if n == "name of the event you wish to use to change weather/screen effects" then
          sectionObj.effects.weather = WEATHER_NONE
  end
end
for screen effects, you can use the variable

Code: Select all

.screenEffect
in place of

Code: Select all

.effects.weather.
Also, check these links out for weather/screen effect variables you can use.
