"It's so indescribably beautiful!"
A sincere thank you, from a longtime lurker, Mario geek, and appreciative fan. I have so many gorgeous episodes downloaded, and I take these along with me frequently when I go to visit a dear friend, who is often stuck in a hospital for weeks on end with a progressive genetic disorder. She loves everything old school Mario and introducing her to these fan creations was a real treat, we've spent countless happy hours playing together.
She and I, along with a handful of others, are in the early stages of planning something that we think has the potential to be spectacular. I've been waiting excitedly for the Beta 4, bouncing around in the previous builds to get good with stuff, & now it's time to all out with our design.
What you all in the development team do is wonderful, and same to all those passionate designers out there. You're the best!!!

whats this all about? I keep getting this tedious message all the time when i die or restart a level. Everything in my level works completely fine but this message just pops up out of nowhere all the time.

In a facepalm-worthy bout of idiocy it turns out I was forgetting the file extensions, and it worked once I put them in... Though it turns out this is also the case for level35 in The Invasion 2, there, it just says "bonus6" instead of "bonus6.lvl"... Was that the case in 1.3?
There's a bug with crossing levels while playtesting, though. Future tests won't work until you terminate the loading thread. EDIT: This doesn't require entering other levels, it seems this always happens.

every time I transition between levels the debugger errors trying to find a nonexistent entity called "f" though that's probably just the specific episode I was testing
If you'd just posted the error message, I could have immediately told you that to fix this you just need to create a folder called "logs" in the data folder of your SMBX installation.
Doing this stopped the error message from appearing whenever I transitioned between levels. The log starts out with this:
0t - Warning: Could not load sound from sounds.ini: sound_ogg/player-jump.ogg
Previously this was appearing in red. I don't know what could be causing it, though it's specific to that particular episode.
EDIT2: Max 20 power for barrel cannons seems weak. Also, if you jump on Tantrunt while it's next to a wall, it hits the wall, bounces back, and triggers a quake immediately.

Had this too. Some NPC Lua in your level seems to be depreached.

Would be worth trying a binary search to figure out which NPC it is.
EDIT: TNT and Nitro crates don't work anymore, attempting to explode produces an error and nothing happens to it. Judging by the error it appears to be the new nitro switch that's causing it, by returning a nil object.

Turns out the crate problem is an incompatibility with the Anti-Nitro Block and Metal Switch. You know, the very blocks they were intended to run alongside.
Also, the Uncle Broadsword in clear pipes bug is still present.

Make a test level and add your custom NPCs one at a time until you get the error, that way you can know which NPC is causing the problem.

The issue with explosions will be fixed in a patch.

Question: Should I replace beta 3 with this or the PAL version with this?
One that beta 3 serve as a compatible version to play old episodes, one that I have to update my levels from the PAL version, if there is any notable changes.

Replace the PAL version with beta 4. It adds a whole bunch of new things. You can keep beta 3 though.

So sorry. Noticing an issue already.
It does not appear that any of the section based environment settings (dark, weather, screen effects) are currently working.
Anyone else finding this?
I'll use the bug report.
Edit: Two reboots later, the feature suddenly is working again. I'll just chalk that one up to space aliens.

Are your level files all .lvlx? or is the feature just not working.

Just remove anything to do with PNPC (such as pnpc.wrap) plus the library itself and you should be fine, I guess.

Nope, started a brand spankin' new lvlx file to test. I dunno, shut everything down and restarted and then it started behaving. Can call off the dogs I suppose.

A few people have been reporting that one with the level effects. A very weird bug, but if it works after a couple of reboots, it's probably nothing to worry too much about!

What am i supposed to replace it with? just type in "npc" because just removing PNPC breaks it even more.

Any time you have something like "pnpc.wrap(v)", just replace it with "v". pnpc is completely irrelevant now.
