Stop asking if it's up yet. If you really want to know, I haven't even started working on this at all, and even if I did, it would take many months to complete. I'm waiting for version 1.8 to release, and before I work on anything, I'd look for some people to help me out, beta-testers of sorts.

What plugins do you plan to use? I'd suggest TreeCapitator and Towny. Towny could fit your "guild/clans" idea. TreeCapitator cuts downs trees instantly if you break one of the wood blocks.

I already plan on Townie, I already planned that on the first day. Other things like Essentials will be used, maybe TreeCrapitator if enough people request it.

I was actually banned for about a month and I literally just got unbanned maybe two hours as of the creation of this post. I'm back now so yeah, here's a long-ass update.

First off I'd like a moderator or administrator's attention (or if somebody can get one if I'm not online) to possibly sticky this thread, since I'm 99% sure this thing is a definite go, it's just that I want it to come to peoples' attentions.

I'm on edge about this as of current. Speculations are that 1.8 will be released in the coming weeks since the last weekly 1.8 pre-releases are already about, so that's fine. The main problem I'm having is not only money issues, but my Internet has taken a turn for the worst and that makes me sad. My servers are also decided to crap out so it's less likely I will be able to host.

One alternative that I wouldn't really want to do would be to host a Minecraft server that would run 24/7 by paying a hopefully monthly fee. Obviously hosted by a third-party company that does host servers. It would cost me money and I have a tight budget (because I play Magic: The Gathering and invest in that a lot of the time), and if people would want to see the server running for longer periods of time, or possibly expand the amount of people the server could hold (there would be restrictions based on the amount I pay monthly for a host), I would gladly accept donations that would go directly to fund the server, though chances of that happening in this community in particular is very low, so you might as well see a limited server.

I'll have you all know that during my ban period I have not only been playing Magic, but I have been working on the server and its general concept and all that jazz. It might not have a lot of what the first post says it might have, since I'd have to pay for a host and it would be limited. It is most probably going to be a straight-forward survival server that may not even utilize Bukkit and its plugins. This is all ahead of us currently so only time will tell what the server will be like.

One thing I really want to start doing is looking for reliable staff members that could not only help the early stages of this server such as map-designing and planning and the like, but also to quite possibly enforce it. I'm not looking at the staff of this forum particularly, but since they are somewhat experienced in that department, it would help a lot. To be quite honest I don't want random people coming up to me and asking to be a moderator, I want people that I know and can trust with this job. Sorry if I disappoint anyone there, I just don't want untrustworthy or unreliable staff members running a community server, especially one that I will possibly be paying money for.

At the least, I can predict the server to be released pre- to post-Christmas, since I will need money to host it of course, but this is only if we rush things. At the most, I can see this server being released maybe in Q1 of 2015, which is my best estimate since I still need to run over a few things, work on the rules, employing moderators/helpers/early access or beta testers, and of course setting up the map.

Most of you aren't aware of this, but I have been pouring a lot more time than I probably should be into this project, and I really hope the best comes out of it. I appreciate some of your guys' patience with this, feel free to comment and post your suggestions, I'll try to pay attention to what the community wants.

Hey, I'm in. I won't be on every single day if you make one, but I will join often.
I've been staff on four servers, but I applied for only one. The other ones were for my friends and I.
I don't really want to be a staff member, even though it would be nice to have control over the breadcast command, I just want the ability to have fun playing Minecraft. Single-Player has gotten boring.
Though, I would encourage only picking the closest people you know to be staff, like friends you know well.
I just wanna play on a fun server.

I have experience being a Operator of a server, and I am happy to help if you need it.
I hope your server turns out well!!

I'm looking for help, mostly map builders at the moment. I'll try to message any helpers when I plan on starting the map (main hub area), but only when 1.8 comes out this month.

So I was looking at server costs, and I was wondering if 25 slots would be enough for everyone? This means that only 25 people would be playing at a time, but since we're all across different timezones, it might be best to do that. The server would be running 24/7 and it would cost me $10 per month, something that in the future may or may not get a little pricey.

The server will be vanilla Minecraft, since hosting a Bukkit server will cost more for me, by a lot. I will update the poll relatively soon with a vote for possible staff members once I get enough looking for that position or if somebody is nominated.

I'm still going to wait until 1.8 comes out just to be safe, but the server should arrive sooner than expected, I just need to wait for people looking to help build the map. Right now I would like at least 5 people looking to be semi-active staff members for the server, just so I can get the poll up and go over rules for the server with them. Again, the only things I'm waiting for are possible staff members and the big, bountiful 1.8 update coming out this month.

You're damn right you'll need moderators, for Vanilla Minecraft. I'm more than willing to help out with that, but you should really get a bulky team going if this server isn't going to be private since there's more likely than not going to be major griefing, as you may know.

I was looking at getting a good team of moderators to span across different timezones in case the need arises for them, so yeah.

And by public, are you talking about for anyone to join? The server is exclusive to this community only, and I will make sure of that by adding a possible whitelist so nobody can send the address to random people.
