Pane's Levels

Postby Pane » Fri Sep 06, 2019 7:59 am

So i just made a level with a custom graphic. I need your help, can someone download this level, try it, and tell me if every custom texture is in there? It would be cool to also have a screenshot.

Caution: I didn't make this custom graphics, I just found them and thought that it is very cool so i made a level with them, please don't eat me lol.

Nice levels, but I'd like to know what version of SMBX is required for each level tbh. But other than that, keep it up

I played the second one and it's indeed well-done. I'd recommend a few more tree decorations and also having the ground one or two blocks higher towards the end. Also it's playable in SMBX2

Ping
Just a quick heads up, you should post a new post in the thread once you make a new level. Otherwise no one will know about it since he thread won’t be bumped.
ohhh thanks a lot to let me know that!!

Level Reviews (Im not an official level judge btw)

sandy level:

Atmosphere/theme
Im assuming this is a desert/Temple theme right? You captured the theme decently but you could have had more variety in BGOS. Seeing the same trees and hills throughout the level made it feel a bit bland. And some areas where empty as well. The music fitted alright but More work could be put into this. It still resembles a desert nothing less.
5/10

Gameplay:
The gameplay was alright. However the Variety of NPCs could have been increased. Seeing the same reskinned Goombas,Snifits And piranha plants just didn't feel like enough and made the level boring. The length of the quicksand boarders later in the levels was inconsistent. When you reach to the fire breathing statues, The borders in the quicksand pool doesn't completely cover it as shown in the editor making the quicksand in this kinda awkward to move through. I did like how you handled the bonus rooms though.
4/10

4.4/10
Dont let this score discourage you. You can always make improvements to the level.

Dead world:

Atmosphere/theme:
It sure did look dead. The tileset and background works really great and really did give the feel of a dead barren forest. The music felt a bit out of place for this level. The smw ghost theme or some custom music could have been better. Just a nitpick but I didn't like how you randomly used the smw bone tileset since it stood out in the level. what makes it more weird is that you already have a bones for your tileset but you decided to place the smw ones. The water segment felt out of place too. The water should have been a duller or darker color to fit the level theme more and it stood out just like the smw bone tileset.
5.4/10

Gameplay:
Way more better than the sandy level. More interesting level segments, More NPC variety and challenges. But the biggest flaw in the gameplay is that its possible to get completely stuck in the level and will be unable to complete it. apparently you need to jump on the giant kremling to reach the high ground. but if you accidentally defeat it its impossible to jump over without cheating.

Like I said these levels can be improved a lot. fixing these flaws in your levels would make them much more better.
