That's the thing, yknow? People on the dev team thought it would be ready by 31. December 2018 but then real life struck in early 2018 and the team's manpower decreased drastically since.
What a pity Is there anything we can do to support the devs? I'll give it a try...
Nothing short of getting good at lua and general programming and joining the dev team to take off some of the workload.
My programming skills suffice for almost beating Lightbot, but that's it... Anyway, thanks for the info For now I'll just keep on encouraging the devs and telling others about SMBX.

Aren't you guys worried that you'll get hit by Nintendo? I mean, you have your own website and all...

They probably won't get into the trouble, since SMBX exists for a long time, and SMBX2 exists for some time too kinda. (And SMBX was C&D because of website i guess, so i guess no)

The whole stuff is discussed many times a lot. There are ways to avoid sudden deletion:
* Don't distrubute stuff on US or any American servers as NOA has easy to attack that because of DMCA. Europe has own copyright laws and NOE which is much more kind than NOA. In Russia Nintendo has no power.
* Never try to earn money from this: no ads, no paid features, no any fee from the copyrighted (Mario-related) stuff. It's just a parasitism which cause Nintendo to attack this.
* When too small community (amount 500~1000 users), you're in semi-safe as you'll be not under attention. However, when site gets 10k+ visits per day, then lawers will carefully watch for you, then, be VERY careful.
About of PGE Project, I have started it with an impression on both SMBX and A2XT that looks like an attempt to legalize SMBX tech stuff to give a brand new game but using same engine. I have made config packs system to separate resources from the tech, and make the whole PGE be more generic game engine than just for a single game like SMBX is. As main stream I taking the A2XT stuff I using myself for showcases and demos. When Nintendo would to say "Nuke Mario stuff", the A2XT will survive, PGE will survive as it contains NO content by itself.

Effectively this is where things stand:
- There is a clause in copyright law called "fair use", which allows for copyrighted material to be used for "transformative works" without violation. This clause is what SMBX currently operates under, and is not "illegal" because of this.
- While we have not explicitly asked permission from Nintendo, we do not actually need this for fair use to apply, and in fact Nintendo themselves state that you should not ask for permission for works governed by fair use.
- Should Nintendo inform us that they believe we are not operating in accordance with the fair use clause, then SMBX will be removed from download.
- Our intention in that instance is to adapt the engine to remove all copyrighted material, such that it can be hosted as its own project without interfering with copyright, assuming this is agreeable.
Currently, as we have had no such notice, we are assuming that Nintendo agrees with our assessment that SMBX constitutes a transformative work under fair use, and thus we are not worried about action being taken (especially as Nintendo have had contact with the community previously with regards to the old URL).
SMBX is not an illegal work, and should Nintendo take issue with it, we will attempt to do what we can to preserve the community in a way that everybody, including Nintendo can agree on.
This is all available on the blog FAQ, by the way, so I'd suggest taking a look there.

Um, I just tried to download Super Mario Bros. X 2.0 Beta 3 on this new gaming laptop, and I got this instead of a page including the download link:
503 - Service Not Available and a White screen
Is the page down or something?

Yes. Use Wohlstand's mirror for the time being.

If 2.0 Beta 3 was causing a ton of lag, it might be your computer. I used to have the lag problem back on my old laptop

Before I factory reset, I had OpenGL. I think its the lack of OGL that makes it run smoothly.

But OpenGL is what makes some features in SMBX2 work.

A lot of stuff is not going to work right without OpenGL, especially in Beta4

None, though some music may get flagged by YouTube's Content ID.

Really? Let's hope she'll return one day.
Anyway, can someone tell me which episode it is that you can see on the SMBX 2 download page? Looks cool... tia
