Just saying, it seems like the shortcut was legitimately part of the level after playing it. Sure he may not have great design choices and made good decisions for enemy placement, but saying someone put something in so that the could cheat at their own level is a whole other side of things, especially when it's a pretty baseless assumption and the secret way takes not that much less time than the normal way so it's nearly pointless anyway. Did you actually even play the level?

Development exits are terrible and really say something about the creator, refrain from adding development exits/shortcuts. Some shortcuts are ok, but this one is just silly and clearly shows you aren't skilled enough to beat a portion of your own level.
i can actually properly beat the section, and it is as simple as to just ignore the easy route anyways. i know im not the best at level design and enemy placement, but its my 1st level, so you'd expect this.

Why would one include development exits in an SMBX level anyway? There is no requirement to beat a level in order to upload it, which would defeat the purpose of having them in a level in the first place, and would only serve to make the level artificially easier (which is basically what developent exits do). The only reason you see them a lot in games such as Mario Maker is because you have to beat the level in order to upload. Any editor where the code or file of the level can be directly accessed would be uploadable regardless if has been beaten or not.

Wow, this level is really interesting for a first attempt.
The concept is quite fun, as a lot of the level revolves around platforming between clouds. The use of the pipe cannons is really fun too!
It is a short, but fun, experience. Maybe next time, make the length of the level longer? Short levels can be just as fun as long ones, but if it is longer then the enjoyment of said level will often last longer too.
The level is really fun, but next time maybe add more BGO's, more secret areas, raise the difficulty, and you'd be getting a great level in no time.

BTW, i noticed that you used some dummy-bgo's for the development shortcut. They shouldn't really be used, as they will get replaced with different things in beta 4, so they may not function properly in that version. Also, the development shortcut is really easy to stumble across if you jump while touching the wall, maybe make it more hidden if it is absolutely required for it to be there.

The World Map is nice, but since there is only one level included, the world map isn't really needed.

RATING: 7.5/10
A fun burst, but could be improved.

If you improved the level in the ways i suggested, that could go up to a 9/10 or even 10/10!

It isn't a development shortcut, and there is absolutely nothing right about them. All they do is tell the world you are bad at games and can't even beat your own level. But since it isn't a development shortcut, there is nothing to worry about.

i was thinking of making you getting fired from another cloud, and being fired onto a flying fortress.

i was actually going to remove that Development Shortcut, just because i can beat my level without help.

How did you get Mario to be so small, and how did you create the cutscene?
the mario in the background is a BGO, (NOT the Dummy BGO's) and i had a trigger for it to start moving down. the trigger is made from coins when you shoot up to a platform off the screen when you get fired from the cannon.

Hi OlieGamerTV, I played your level on 2.0 and this is what I think about it:

- I like the idea of using cannons to go higher and higher, eventually reaching the airship section.
- However, when I did reach the airship with those 2 Hammer Bros, I saw Mario falling down in the background and then nothing happened. The game suddenly started slowing down so I never really got to finish the level as I physically couldn't. I could hear Mario jumping but I didn't have any playable character at all. Hope this makes sense...
- It took me a good minute to figure out how to get to that blue coin at the very beginning. Maybe if there's a clue or subtle hint?
- The shells that those Koopas kick towards you in the second and third section of the level can be very unfair as one of them in particular is almost impossible to dodge as I've literally just landed after a cannon blast. I would suggest getting rid of some of the shells they're kicking.
- Music is fitting.
- I noticed some cut-offs:

Overall, I like the idea that the level is going for but that issue at the end made it impossible for me to finish it properly. From what I saw and experienced, I give this level 4/10.

what do you mean by that? as soon as you go off-screen, a little cutscene plays where Mario slowly falls down onto the airship.

i will agree with that, half the time i got hit by a shell in section 2 at the top, i will remove some of the hard koopas

anyways, thanks for the review! i will take what you have said here and improve on my level

I saw the cutscene but Mario was falling somewhere to the left of any airship and went offscreen and I was never able to play with him again so I was pretty much stuck at that point.

Oh, actually I just replayed it and I didn't get stuck. I landed on the airship and was almost instantly greeted by a Bullet Bill from which I took damage :lol: Some of the Hammer Bros on the airship are difficult to dodge.

In terms of the fight with Ludwig, it took me a few minutes to realise what I had to do but once I did, it was fairly easy and a bit boring to fight him as he can't really hurt me, since he stays in one place. By the way, I noticed a slight cut-off on the left side in the fight room... Also, I got on the higher platform next to Ludwig at the beginning and was stuck there as big Mario and only escaped because I took damage and was small enough to fit through the gap on the side.

I like the end section with the room shaking and you falling down from the airship on the cloud. You can still die though because of those pesky final Hammer Bros...

the Bullet bill that appears when you land is there to make you be quick on your toes, and the hammer bros are there as a bit of a challenge, i actually changed the lugwig battle to be a bit more challenging, but still a bit of fun, i thought it would give the airship a bit more of the cool factor if it was shaking,
oh, and also, the hammer bros, and their projectiles can't actually hurt you, i set them to friendly, so they are 100% safe, one hammer bro actually dropped off the airship when testing and he tried to hurt me, but he couldn't as i set it to friendly. that better boss fight will be in the next update

to be fair, i kinda see your point, why the need for hammer bros on the
