Review of The Rising Sun
The level actually starts promising, with some epic-quality music. Thought this level could be interesting. The second section was easy to beat when you use tannoki suit, even without that, avoiding emenies like spinies and just going down wasn't that interesting.
The third section is where the a tribute of SMB starts. While playing it for 30 seconds, it made me think either this is an serious attempt to make it like a remake or not, because there's things that do not make it a remake.
1. The pipes are not in the same color.
2. Also, not in the same style. While used smb3 pipe tile, the entrance tiles are SMW/SMB1.
3. There are no end tiles.
4. no entrance to bonus cave.
5. Not even right npc placement, I mean, it's not close to be right.
After that, going to the castle, there's hammer bros, which is hard to pass if you're small. That way, I prefer removing them. Another thing I see is that I can't enter the pipe, because the warp is set up wrong and it should be one block next to the pipe. I fixed warps for myself to move the progress.
anyways, entering the 1-2 cave section and after playing, it looks kinda the same as it has the same stuff as it was in 1-1, except the pipes are in one style and in one color, which is strange that you didn't do the same in 1-1. The platforms have no generation, while they should have so it can act like real SMB platforms. Anyways, the pipe warp is set wrong so I can't progress the level, again.
The next section is just using a koopa shell to break blocks for the next section. Nothing special, could use blocks in creative way rather than just simple. The SMB 1-3 section is the one that is most likely into remake, since the design and placement (besides hammer bros and SMB3 platforms) are pretty close. There's nothing much to say about that section, so moving into 1-4.
Whatever this is, 1-4 section doesn't really look like an actual 1-4. Why? Fireballs (not rinkas) don't move around in circles, chasing koopas, no ceiling (what SMB castle levels had it actually), cutoffs, fire spam (also not moving like in actual SMB), hammer bro spam. This section was like... completely throwing out remake out and making it an typical spam one. The door at the end doesn't have a warp, or specificaly, a entrance that is connected to the last section, which is an exit. Since the last section doesn't bother me, I'll just finish without fixing an entrance warp instead.
Overall, the level has 2 major things: unoriginality and the title which adds nothing to the level itself. Making a tribute version of SMB1 is the same as making the remake, which isn't that. For title, it adds only to music. Whatever this is, this level is like it was completely untested and made very quickly on purpose. My suggestion is always make levels by yourself and not remakes and don't ever do rushing on them. Testing is also required.
