(Updated) Super Mario Bros. Special X [Remake]

Hi.

I've been here in the forums for quite some time now and I just now registered to post stuff. I've made some levels previously, but not a whole episode. I figured that this is a good way to start.

Anyway:

is here to remake the least remembered Mario game. This episode includes at the moment:
  1. all of the levels of the original Sharp X1 version
  2. Updated visuals
  3. All of the new items and enemies
  4. An extra world with unique levels
  5. A Overworld map
Progress:

Levels: Finished
World Map: Unfinished
Lua: Unfinished
Custom Graphics: Finished

When all of this is finished, you too can have the misfortune to play this.

The brothers have a different look than usual. Mario is based on his incarnation in the game, while Luigi is based on the Atari 5200 Mario Bros. I did this to reflect the fact that they have their original overall and shirt colors in Mario All-Stars.


I decided to scrap the idea of different artstyles and now everything has a Mario 1 feel. Or at least is trying to.


The stuff you see on the screenshots may change according to your feedback or when I decide to change some or all of it.

Looks okay, but the smww snow koopa's clash with the smb3 things. Also, isn't special itself a port of super Mario Bros to sharp X1? So this is a remake of a port that wasn't all that great to begin with.

SMB Special is a different game to SMB with similar graphics but different levels. The original versions of the game had bugs thoough. If you want to play the levels then you can play SMB Crossover 3.0 or 3.1 and set the game to SMB Special in the menu. The physics are better and like the SMB physics than the original versions.

The NSMB art clashes a lot with the player sprite, and the sky screen has 1x1 pixels in the background. Honestly, I'd recommend scrapping the different art styles for each world, since they clash quite a bit imo, and replacing them with graphics from Sednaiur's SMB1 expanded pack.
