...is not as impressive as I would've hoped, and I'm sorry.

So, first of all, a Joey Life Update (tm): I got a job for the summer at a camp in Wisconsin. It's a great job but the Wi-Fi in my room is pretty much nonexistent at the moment, which is why I haven't been able to visit the forums/IRC as much. I'm hoping that will get fixed soon, but until then I'm simply going to be around much less than I normally am (and, due to how busy I am, I'll still be around less once the internet is fixed). Any concerns that you would normally send to me (or general concerns intended for an administrator) should be sent to Valtteri or Pseudo-dino and they can help you out. Don't hesitate to send the moderators messages as well if you think they would be able to help.

Now, for what this announcement was originally going to be about: as you all noticed, Redigit joined the forums a few months ago. This is, again, the real Redigit; no tricks or hoaxes here, I promise. What happened was that Redigit approached me on the IRC at that time; obviously I expected it to be someone else messing around and posing as Redigit, as usual, but I did an IP check and it appeared that this person was from Indiana (as opposed to some other random place, or a proxy). This person told me that he had registered a forum account, which he did, and I looked and saw a very recognizable email (can't give it out without his permission, obviously). I then told this person to message me on Facebook, as that would be a way to verify his identity. Sure enough, my phone lit up a few seconds later with a Facebook notification saying "Andrew Spinks sent you a message".

So then I spent a while talking to Redigit while also geeking out because I could now use the Kain rank that's been on these forums since they opened. What I was hoping to announce with more enthusiasm was that Redigit talked to me about giving out the SMBX source code. He, of course, had to consider the legal ramifications, and had determined that he could only distribute it if Nintendo's IP was removed. I'm not going to go into any more detail about our interaction as it pertains to the source code because I don't have it. I followed up with Redigit a few months ago, to which he answered that he was busy, and then there was no answer when I followed up again.

Again, I'm sorry that this wasn't as cool as it could've been, but at least we know that the SMBX source code exists somewhere. Maybe someday we'll have access to it.

I return from Wisconsin on August 7th and will hopefully be able to spend more time here the following week.

Honestly, I would say, with the introduction of LunaLua we don't even need the source code. There's just so much that can be done with it that it'll be a while before we hit a design stump.

Also, Joey, have fun. Watch out for poison ivy. It's some pretty nasty stuff.

What is SMBX source code? I don't know what it is.
But, if it's not allowed to share to people what it is then I'm fine with it.

Looks like the Ark of the Covenant has been locked away in that warehouse after almost being recovered by the protagonist, no surprise there.

There isn't any issue with that. I was more referencing the sad face he renamed the header of his post to, in conjunction with his comment
