My Action Packed Drawings

Postby lighthouse64 » Fri Mar 25, 2016 5:01 pm

You know how when you see people's drawings, you generally just see one person or two? Well that's not the case with me! I personally can't draw like that, because it's too boring.

Now that that's over, let me present you my drawings! (they will always have emoji people) :P I also forgot to mention that these are huge, because I draw them on a whole sheet of paper, and that I probably won't upload that many completely colorized pictures.

Any Constructive criticism is welcome. Plz don't just say one line sentences which won't really help me.

#1 Migration through Dog-Dragon Island (yes, these are hard to understand)
Spoiler: show
Image
Took 3 days to finish.

Information:

Overview:
The long, nutrient filled winter has gone by. The dragons, along with birds and flying fish, are migrating from the dragon island chain to colder areas in search of larger, more nutritious fish than these small tropical prey. Many of the emojis however, can't leave the islands because there isn't enough wood for them to craft a boat to transport them. (no they do not swim across the ocean) For those who do stay, they will find food by killing fish with their small wood knives and nets. Life will be full of living beings constantly eating low calorie foods. (fish, occasional fruits, and kelp) The masses of fish which live on the islands' coasts may decide to swim to more prosperous areas, but many will stay.

Setting:Dog-Dragon Island

Living things: Pelicans, Seagulls, Dragons, Fish, Emoji People, worms, kelp, plants, and other sea life.
#2 Roaring Rockslide Rampage (Beautiful alliteration and assonance)
Spoiler: show
Image
Took about an hour to finish. (because of the lack of color)

Information:

Overview:
A huge rockslide has occured after the emojis had mined the mountain way too much. Now they are in great danger of being squashed, especially because their tools got left behind, and the only escape route for them is to swim away from the falling rocks. A few smart emojis took advantage of the rocks, and they began rock surfing, and a trio of emojis found a hole in the mountain. The others got banged up or squashed.

Setting: The mountain

Living things: Emoji People, Fish, Plants

Not terrible - it's certainly better than a lot of things I've drawn. The ducks' wings look a little odd, but I can tell a lot of effort went into it. I'd give you some more advice on lineart but Zipper put it much better than I could, so here's a quote:
Zipper wrote:In all seriousness, one advice I can give you right now is : fix your lines. Right now it looks like you tried VERY carefully to draw curved lines (Hint : draw curved lines by PULLING the pencil ,and the straight lines by PUSHING it) and just went "eh this is good enough", leaving your lines as extremely janky and crooked. When doing line-art, it's an acceptable idea to sketch repeatedly over an area till you get something satisfactory out of it. That is to say, when drawing a line, if it's not perfect the first time, just draw it over and over (without erasing the old layers) until it eventually averages out to look more tolerable(which it will). The end result will look a lot rougher, but you'll have successfully managed to create basic shapes for your drawings, and that will allow you to re-trace your steps, this time having a point of reference which you can use to get a better grip for your drawings. I'd talk about incorrect anatomy as well, but I guess you can currently avoid that by looking at a reference while drawing, so you know...do that.

Hey thanks :) I always appreciate constructive criticism. Also, I made a few descriptions to help people understand what's going on.

3 Things:

1. Those emoji people look like circle guys :o
2. I like how you included a story with your drawing because I would be lost easily
3. Lineart has the word linear in it woah
