Who thought the default SMBX control scheme was good?

Postby Neoflash » Wed Apr 06, 2016 4:46 pm

The default control layout in SMBX is next to unusable! Who came along and said "Let's make it so you have to bend your hand to the right in order to hold down the run key while jumping at the same time. Also, let's make it so you can't drop items at all!"? To make things worse, why can't these people layout the default joystick controls?

You may be like "Oh but Neoflash, there is a lot of joysticks and we obviously can't make a layout that works for every single one". Well maybe I'd believe that if I could actually get more than one controller to work on this piece of junk! I've tried USB SNES controllers, Bluetooth PS3 controllers, Wii remotes, USB Gamecube controllers, and the ONLY one I could get to work was a run-of-the-mill USB Xbox controller!

Who looked over these controls and said they were good? IDK if this person did it as a prank, or if this person was some kind of 3 handed alien. Bottom line, the SMBX controls suck.

And yes, I know you can change the controls. But still, they shouldn't be an atrocious mess in the first place!

Why complain about something you can change? And the Xbox 360 controller is supported by Microsoft which Windows is made by. So of course it's gonna be based around the 360 controller.

The controls are absolutely fine for me, so I just suggest you to mess around with control settings if you're not happy with them.

They're not nearly as bad as you're making them out to be.

Why did you make a thread about it if you can simply change the controls to something that suits you?

I, uh... Still use and prefer the default settings..? You're making it sound like it's absolutely terrible, but I don't really see the problem with it.

You can always change the settings on the controls to suit yourself, but I find them perfectly comfortable

To answer your question: Most people, since you seem to be the only one to complain about it.

What keyboard are you using?
The run and jump button are right night to each other.
Also, the drop item button is shift which is next to the arrow keys.

If you already change the controls, then why complain.

I still think it's frustrating that I can't use my controller. I tried the x360ce vibmod but can't get it to work.

Anyway, I find them just fine. My controls are
Move: Arrows
Jump: "Y"
Run: "X"
Alt Run: S"
Spin Jump/Alt Jump: "A"
Drop Item: Either Shift
(This is the default control Scheme)
So, if you have to bend to reach your hands from the "X" to the "Y", then I am confused. ...Maybe try installing an English Keyboard may help ya, but still.

Have you tried JoytoKey?

Don't you have to pay for that after a while? I can play fine with the keyboard so it doesn't feel worth it.

Neoflash, you are incredibly rude whenever you make threads. That needs to stop.

Echoing what others have said, if you don't like the controls then change them yourself.
