SMB2 Styled Power-Up Reserve Box (LunaLua)

Postby h2643 » Wed Feb 17, 2016 1:35 pm

With LunaLua 0.7.3 out, we can finally replace hard-coded GFX in SMBX without the need to modify the actual SMBX exe! So if you want to use the graphics I'm posting here, you need to download the 0.7.3 version of LunaLua, or higher. Also, unlike before, you can use any hard-coded GFX per-level now, if one wished. As long as LunaLua is loaded of course. So just place the graphics into the level folder and have fun!

What I did here is that I modified player's reserve boxes, for both players:

Level shown in the screenshots:

Includes two versions of the boxes: one based on the original SMB2 GFX, and the other one is SLIGHTLY edited. The boxes I showed in the screenshots are the edited ones.

This is fantastic. So do you need to actually use any code or just throw them in the level folder?

Just dump an image with the specific name into level or episode folder.

Basically what Enjl, and me, said. Just put the graphics anywhere you want (like you would put any custom graphics in a level folder) and that's it.

Full SMB2 hud may be released soon.

Threw this together. Feel free to use this as a text box for your HUD if you make one. Working on a hardcoded graphics update for my GFX pack and was inspired by your Item Boxes. (hardcoded-46.png)

^ I think that picture will glitch out when it's going to expand :P (because of big messages) Also the sides ain't really that fitting because the letters may be printed on them.

Don't worry though, I already made a better one (and closer to the original). It's going to be released later.

That's a good point about the expansion of it. I'll have to work with that some more. The border is just as wide as the original so I don't think there would be letters on it. Can't wait to see what you've done!
