First of all, hello SMBX community! I'm new (to the forums, anyway) and of course, the first place I've gotta post is the help section. Typical newbie. Anyway, let me get straight to the point. On a freshly installed version of SMBX (no downloaded episodes, gfx, etc) everything worked normally. Both "Cliche" and "The Invasion 2" showed up as playable episodes. Then, I downloaded the "Super Mario Bros. 3 Remastered" episode and extracted the folder into the "worlds" folder. When I went to run the game again, no episodes were listed. Just the red arrow that would normally appear next to the selected episode. If I hit the space bar to select the "blank" episode, it allowed me to pick a character. However, the map screen was completely black and I was unable to do anything but save and quit. Oh yeah, and removing the SMB3 file from the "worlds" folder doesn't fix the problem. One other episode also caused this problem with me; that was Mario Classic. I remember successfully downloading 2 episodes that did work, but I can't remember what they were due to multiple re-installations. Also, my own test episode was successful. I really hope someone can help me here; I don't want to have to uninstall and install yet again... If you need screenshots or anything, let me know. And specs can't be the issue; both the editor and the included episodes worked flawlessly.
Thanks in advance!

I got SMBX from the download link right here.
Here are the screenshots...
Worlds Folder:
Cliche:
The Invasion 2:
The SMB3 Remastered folder is not in there because, like I said, I tried removing it to see if that fixed the issue. Somehow, that world must have altered my files and caused them not to work. But I'll let you be the judge of that.

make sure when you put the episode in, that when you open the episode folder the .wld is in there.

Yep, of course there are .wld files in the two in the screenshots. There is one in the SMB3 Remastered one as well.
UPDATE: I have uninstalled and reinstalled SMBX once again. Now, even before adding any custom elements or downloaded episodes to the game, no episodes are listed. I have checked battle mode, and those courses work fine. No episodes load for either 1P or 2P mode. Also, is there supposed to be an intro folder inside the SMBX folder? Because mine does not have one now, but I remember having one before. The very first time I downloaded the game I had no issue playing Cliche and The Invasion 2. I can't understand why uninstalling and reinstalling wouldn't do the trick...stupid computers. I don't know. Hopefully someone knows whats going on...

There's not supposed to be an intro folder but an intro.lvl. I guess there would be an intro folder if you were to have custom graphics on your Intro.lvl.
This boggles my mind, what about any other episodes you install? Also, where is your SMBX located? C:\? C:\Program Files?
EDIT: C:\Program Files. Okay try starting SMBX as administrator. What might be happening is that SMBX doesn't have write access to Program Files.

Thanks for the quick response! (Unlike mine here) Sorry if I sounded impatient. Its mainly because I was frustrated I couldn't figure out what was going on, and I don't usually have issues with computers. The intro folder vs intro.lvl thing makes sense now. I did download an episode that included custom gfx in the intro.lvl. And as for the location of my SMBX, its in C:\Program Files (x86). I tried running SMBX as administrator and that was successful, so your guess was probably correct. Also, I went into the application properties and set it so it runs as administrator permanently. Now is there a way to have this work without the stupid popup showing all the time? Like the one asking if you want to let the program make changes to your computer or whatever? I can live with it, but it can be annoying. Thanks for your help!

I suggest moving it to your "downloads" or your "documents" folder our any other folder outside of "program folders" or "program folders(x86)" otherwise its Impossible to remove this dialog box

Ok, that's what I figured. It's not that annoying, but moving my SMBX is so simple, it's perfectly worth it to do it. Thanks!

Or you can move it to the root of your C:\ drive. I personally keep mine there, that's where the official smbx installer installed it to Glad to see that worked though

A small question: how many wld files you have in downloaded episode? Are all wld files are correct [no damaged, doesn't cause SMBX crash on open, or PGE doesn't warn you about error in file]? I found if you have damaged wld files (even saved with wrong CRLF [I accidentally written that file (as binary file, and instead of CRLF I wrote CRCRLF bytes) and it causes a strong error of SMBX where I saw nothing in episode list])

I think the files are fine. I mean the fact that it works with "run as administrator" enabled confirms that. I think that if the wld files were the issue, it wouldn't have worked either way. There was one wld file in each episode, and I don't believe any of them were damaged. If that's the case, then SMBX needs to check the download on their own site, because that means either Cliche or The Invasion 2 is messed up. I don't think they are though. They work like a charm now.

therefore you SHOULD: open your SMBX folder with right mouse -> Properties, goto "Sequrity"/"Permissions" (if you don't see this tab, you should go to control panel and open "Folder properties", then in "View" tab DISABLE "simple sharing" or "Sharing wizard", and press Ok.), and check "Full access" to "Users" group, then apply everything to subfolders, then you will don't need admin rights to write to SMBX folder (it's stupid to have no permissions to write into that folder!).
Therefore in the PGE I made %UserProfile%\.PGE_Project folder (it will work if you will install PGE via installer, if you downlaode it as zip, it will work as portable application and everything will be in same folder) to have your "screenshots" and "worlds" folder where you can write your stuff with no admin rights and without trashing your application directory

I had the same issue, and re-installing didn't work. So, before I re-installed, I went to my SMBX directory, and deleted the SMBX folder. So, basically, use Uninstall.exe (can be found in your game directory,) delete the SMBX folder (also in game directory,) then use the SMBX installer to download it. Try again to load the worlds. Custom ones, at least for me still don't work, but Invasion 2 and Princess Cliche both are playable finally.
