.lvl files aren't in my SMBX root folder...

Postby MarioMaster7771 » Wed Jan 07, 2015 11:39 am

Hello... I've finished a level recently and it was saved and loaded sucessfully in the editor but when I acess the root folder on Windows, I just can't see the .LVL files. And I made sure that I saved it in the SMBX folder.
Can someone please give some suggestions that may help? I'm starting to struggle with this.

Well, can you search for them in your entire PC at first for these Files like "lvl" or something? Maybe these files can also be hidden for no reason so there might be a function to be not hidden. I never experienced that issue though...

I tried but nothing. But I can see the intro and outro .LVL files.

Quick question:
1) Do you check right disk?
2) Make this:
- If you have Windows 7, Open your SMBX shortcut with right mouse button and select "Palcement of file" to open RIGHT directory of SMBx.
- If you have Windows XP, open your SMBX shortcut with right mouse button and select "Properties", when push the "Find target" to open RIGHT dierctory of SMBx.
Check the "worlds" subfolder to find your levels

Before reading your post, I checked straight into the local disk. But now I followed the 2nd step but I am still seeing the intro and outro .LVL files only. And yes I also checked the worlds sub-folder. I can only see .LVL files from the episodes' folders though. :\

Careful check your paths in the Open/Save box:

P.S. You should open "Folder Properties" in the control panel and in the "View" tab DISABLE HIDING OF EXTENSIONS

Still didn't work... Gosh I even made a copy of the outro .lvl file so I could overwrite it with my custom level but it still remained as the same. This is becoming a nightmare! :o

It's too much wired... or some thing is too much stupid...
You should follow to path which you see in the save box, and open SAME path in the explorer

If you see in the save box this:

D:/ <------ disk
----/Folder2
-----------/Subfolder1

Build path in the Windows Explorer:

D:\Folder2\Subfolder1

I did ensure that I've saved in the SMBX folder and in the worlds sub-folder. Yet no .LVL file has been created...

1) Can you open SAME file in the SMBX again (press "New" to clean state and press "Open" to get attempt to open than file)?
2) Run SMBX with administrator rights and try to save again

Also, open SMBX folder with right mouse button and check "Properties"
When switch into "Sequrity", after check "Change".
Choice "Users" group and set full rights permission. And press Ok. If you will be asked, choice "Overwrite all files in sub-folders too".

Holy crap it worked! Thanks a lot, mate! Although I lost my custom level .LVL file but I think I can make it better now. :P

This silly bug appears because your SMBX folder has "admin-only" write rights :P
In next time, set write access for everybody before you will use SMBX!

By anyway, good luck, dude ;)
